Kurama's Spring Flower

Chapter Thirteen

Yusuke was walking beside a busy road. 'Okay, now I'm remembering. After that I met the kid.' Yusuke stops when a football stops by his feet, making him crouch down and pick it up as a small boy with brown hair runs towards him. "May I have my ball please?" The little boy politely asks him. Yusuke then bends down to the boy's height and stares at him as he then lectures the kid in a loud tone with anger as he remembers his sister's accident, "Listen kid, that's dangerous! There are cars going by and they will splatter you into the pavement!" The boy looks up at him really sad, whilst Yusuke remains looking serious until he raises up the ball to cover his face, before he then pulls it down to reveal a funny face whilst he makes weird noises and does this again before looking seriously at the boy again, before pulling more goofy faces and doing goofy dances to make the kid happy, making on lookers stare at him as if he was odd, whilst the child sits and laughs, "Hahaha, yeah monster." and even claps at Yusuke's performance before he then stops.

'Well if all else fails, I can still make kids happy.' Yusuke thinks to himself as he removes the chopsticks from his nose and mouth, before kneeling down in front of the boy again to then speak to him in a more gentle tone, "Alright, now go ahead and get lost. It's not safe playing ball around here, understand?" He passes the ball back to the boy, before walking off, continuing his journey to visit his twin as he crosses the road. He then looks back to see the little boy playing with the ball still, despite what he just advised, making him frown and complain, "Dammit, what's the use?! The kid can get smashed by a car for all I care." And with that said, the boy kicks the ball, which then lands on the road and the kid decides to try and get it back, making Yusuke exclaim, "Woah! Watch out kid! Don't go into the road! huh?" He then turns his head to see a car speeding towards the child, making a small memory of his sister getting hit flash up in his mind, before he then yells towards the kid whilst sprinting towards him, "HEY!"

The two in the car were distracted, as they were laughing at a joke, with both the passenger and drivers eyes closed, and just as the kid reached the ball and Yusuke stretched his arm to push him, the passenger opens her eyes before the drive and exclaims in shock, "Hey, watch out!" And with that the driver realises there's a kid on the road, making him slam the breaks. And Yusuke swore that it was like a re-enactment of what happened with his twin, as the car was close to hitting the child just like it almost hit him and some older kid back then, and before the car could hit the kid, Yusuke manages to push him away from the car's trajectory, just as Akina did for him before...

The Present

'So that's it, I'm road kill?' Yusuke thinks before continuing aloud, "But if that was me down there, hm, then who am I up here I wonder? Could it mean...I've turned into a ghost!?" Then a female voice is heard speaking with enthusiasm, "Bingo! You win the prize!" Yusuke then looks up to see a girl wearing a pink kimono, has bubble gum blue hair and pink eyes sitting on a floating oar smiling down at him. "I didn't expect you to figure it out so quickly." The girl laughs whilst Yusuke stares at her in shock. He then gives her a hostile look as he asks, "Who the hell are you?!" But the girl's smile never left her face as she responds, "When people die unexpectedly, like you just did, often they can't accept it and become ghosts see?" Yusuke continues to glare at her with his arms crossed as he points out, "You're not answering my question!" The girl decides to finally answer, "Botan's my name, the piolet of the river stick. I take care of people like you." She laughs and then flies closer to Yusuke. "I believe in your culture they also call me the Grim Reaper. Ring a bell?" Yusuke raises an eyebrow at this response as he floats closer to her and says, "A pretty girl like you? Please, you're no Grim Reaper." Botan gasps before replying, "Well, I'm not sure if I should take that as a compliment or an insult." Yusuke leans away from her as he speaks, "Plus if you were a real messenger of death, you'd take this more seriously. Like how Grim could you be when you say bingo?" Botan seems to take offence as she gasps. "You're suppose to wear a big black robe and look like a skeleton!" Yusuke shouts at her.

 "Now I understand what kind of person you are, it's in my guide book!" Botan exclaims with a smile on her face as she pulls out a grey book from her sleeve and looks through the pages. "Rather than be scared or surprised, you yell a lot and tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about. Yusuke Urameshi, age fourteen. Personality's impulsive and ill mannered with a violent temper. Has no respect for authority and is a horrible student." During her reading, Yusuke had to resist the urge of punching her whilst hearing all these negatives about him and noting positive. 'If Akina was here she would be able to tell them that they've got me all wrong!' Yusuke thinks. "Things weren't looking out for you, were they?" Botan laughs before hiding behind her book as Yusuke goes right up her face and yells, "That's none of your business!" He then tries to smack the book out of Botan's hands, making her gasp and quickly move it away, making him go downwards slightly, before he floats back up to the laughing girl. "Alright then death lady, can you tell me what happened to that kid I saved? Like is he injured or what?" Botan then looks inside the book whilst asking, "You want to go visit him?"

They then go to the one place Yusuke was trying to go to in the first place, the hospital. "Well we got the test results in. He's got a few scrapes but no signs of broken bones or brain damage whatsoever." The doctor sitting in front of the bandaged boy says to the boy's mother, who then hugs her boy as she says, "Oh, thank goodness." Unaware to them, outside was the floating pair watching them. "Look at that." Yusuke says happily, "He's really okay. Alright Botan can we go visit one more person?" The girl looks at him confused, before watching him float higher up towards a different floor where he sees his twin crying over a photo of Yusuke, whilst her nurse rubs her back and tries to calm her down, making the boy whisper, "I'm sorry sis."
