Third Person's POV
Team Urameshi was now occupied the boat and chose to stay near the boat railing. Yusuke sat against it with Hiei firmly standing at the very top of the boat railing slightly to the side of Yusuke. Kurama and Kuwabara were casually leaning against the railing on the right side of Hiei, with the masked fighter standing off to the side of Kuwabara. "Nothing here but ugly monsters. I thought cruises were suppose to have pretty girls." Kuwabara complains before staring at the masked fighter and thinks to himself about this figure. "I sure hope the island isn't as boring as this." Hiei says out loud. Kurama smiles at this and says, "We are not on vacation you know." Kuwabara looks down as he says, "I know, but couldn't they at least just give us a place to eat with pretty waitresses."
"Alrighty maties! Turn your eyes to the Captain's deck." The captains voice echoes out of a megaphone, making everyone instantly look to the Captain's deck where the Captain stands up high away from the contestants and speaks into a microphone. "It's still going to be quite some time before we get to the harbour. So we've got somethin' in mind t'keep ya from getting rowdy." This makes Kuwabara jump away from the rail and stare up at the captain with excitement as he exclaims, "Ooh! I knew it, some dinner and dancing!" But he was proven wrong as soon as the captain says, "The preliminary battles of the tournament will be fought 'ere on me trusty ship." This instantly caused Demons to convers with each other more loudly due to the confusion birthed by this announcement. "SAY WHAT!?!" Kuwabara gasps out in disbelief, whilst Hiei calmly says, "A preliminary for the competition." This makes Kurama add, "Now that we can't go anywhere."
Suddenly the boat begins to shake violently, making Kuwabara cry out, "Aah! Earthquake!" This makes Hiei look down at him and say, "Fool, there can't be earthquakes on the water." Kurama spots the source of this disturbance and points towards it as he orders, "Look!" Everyone watches as the centre of the ship's platform seems to slowly split apart so a large circular rises out the bottom of the ship and situates itself slightly higher than the unmoving platform of the boat along with stairs attached to it. "Woah! That thing's huge!" Kuwabara exclaims as he watches it continue to rise. "She's a real beauty ain't she." The captain says as the platform finally comes to a stop. "Now, I'll tell it t'ya straight. Fifteen teams have already been selected to compete in the Dark Tournament, they're already awaitin' your arrival. That means out of all of you left on my ship only one team will compete on dry land." This announcement made the Demons roar out in anger as they were never informed that there was a chance of them not being allowed to partake for they were not selected before getting on the boat.
"Hold on, I thought that we were the special guests?" Kuwabara couldn't help but ask aloud. "This is the way they operate." Hiei calmly states. "All teams pick out your strongest man and bring him to the ring's port side. There they'll fight the battle royale! And whoever comes out alive gets their team a ticket to fight on Hangin' Neck Island!" The captain announces leading to the Demons releasing excited cheers. Kuwabara smiles and starts breaking his knuckles as he says, "So, one big beat down, huh. Guess I'll have to show them the brand new Kuwabara Super Attack." But he then he senses something behind him, making him turn to see a very large Demon behind him who says, "Yes I do prefer larger battles. One on one always makes me bored." This then sparks another Demon to say, "An excellent chance to sharpen my claws." And another to add, "Now I can kill as many apparitions as I want to, after I turn that Human Urameshi boy inside out of course." And with that many Demons eagerly make their way onto the large battle ring.
