I'm still struggling on coming up with a lie to get my twin home. I knew she would ultimately see right through me if I don't have a rock solid plan. So I'm officially stuck between a rock and a hard place. That phrase is one of my favorite American ones and I just recently found out what that means. So as cool as the phrase is, it's the honest truth about the situation I find myself in. If only there was a legit reason why she had to come back with me. Ideally I love for the reason being that Dad was getting some sort of award. Yes I think that would work because when she was talking to me, she would always ask about Dad and how he was doing. The last thing that I want to do is to overplay my hand and have the truth about us moving out come to light before I'm ready for it to. I'm hoping to show my sisters possible home options in the near future because we really need to get the ball rolling on that. Also that's another American phrase that I love.

As I pondered my situation and what to do about it, my phone started to ring. It was Holly. She wanted me to meet her and Lily at the party store after work today. Apparently she had promised the little ones that if they were good all week that we would have a water balloon war. I'm glad that she likes to keep her word and stick to whatever she promised anyone. She's been that way since I met her, honestly. Growing up, I thought some of her promises were just threats and she wouldn't follow through, but boy was I wrong. However, I'm glad that Holly, Lily and I have all kept our promises about taking care of our younger brothers and sisters. I'm so proud of all of our hard work over the years.

So after work I met the girls at the store and we ended up picking up a cake for afterwards. I know it's a big deal that our siblings were good all week, but frankly, I think that was overdoing it. We want them to be good without expecting dessert in return. It's almost like a bribe. Finally we went home and I raced them all the way home, leaving them eating my dust!

Soon after we arrived at our place, Josh and the twins were just there. How and when they got there will remain a mystery, but it was nice to have their help. After we got the balloons filled, a brilliant idea popped into my head. I really wanted to nail Dad, but before I could tell Josh about my plan, he blurted out about wanting to get him too. I love how similar Josh and I really am.

Then I ran outside with my little brother ran right behind me. Just then we heard the door lock. I wonder who did that to us? Maybe it was Bayley. No, it was definitely Holly because it has her written all over it. Of course she would lock us out.

"So what's the plan, bro?" Josh asked me.

"We're going to climb onto the roof and throw this at his head."

I showed him the massive balloon behind him. I've had this plan of mine for a while now, but was waiting for this water war to come to be. Josh was super excited, as I hoped he would be. We arrived at the kitchen to see a few pieces with our names on them. Literally. Mom had actually made us plates with our names written on the paper plates. I'm glad that she had saved two pieces each though.

"So what were you boys doing?" Mom asked.

"Oh we were just talking. We just lost track of time, that's all," I told her.

"We were?" Josh is so clueless sometimes.

"Yes Josh. Were you not paying attention yet again?"

"Nope."

I rolled my eyes. "Unbelievable!"

"Well I'm glad you remembered to come for dinner!"

"Thanks for saving us some, Ma!"

"Of course, my sweet boys!"

She hugged and kissed our cheeks as she walked away from the table.

"Okay word of advice, little bro, when someone needs to have your back, just go with it, okay? This whole war is a secret and not even Mom knows about it. And we would like to keep it that way. Understand?"
