I smiled at my sister.

"What are you looking at me like that? Weirdo."

"No, I just know something that you don't."

"I highly doubt that, but I guess I'll ask anyway. So what is it, dear brother?"

"You're not going to go back to England the day after the ceremony."

"And why not?"

"I'm going to blackmail you."

"How are you going to do that?"

"If you leave prematurely, I will tell Dad where you live and your work hours."

"Okay and?"

I couldn't believe that I had to spell it our for her.

"If Dad knows your schedule, you won't be able to hide from him."

"So then I'll just change my hours. No biggie."

"Then I'll have you followed."

"So like a stalker? Smooth." She rolled her eyes.

"Nope, just my security team."

"Okay, so what do you want in return? I mean there has to be something that you want."

"All I want from you, is for you to give an actual effort to connect with every one of our siblings, Dad and Mom."

"She's still not my mom, thanks."

"Okay, but still, that's what I want."

"For how long?"

"A month."

"A month?!"

"Yep, thirty days to see if you can get some real relationships with our family."

"Okay, and then what happens if I don't connect with anyone after that?"

"Then I'll let you go and send you on your merry way back to England."

"And we'll never have to talk about this bloody thing again."

"But please at least try to connect with your family. And if you're not going to do it for yourself, please do it for me and Dad, please. That's all I ask, okay?"

"Okay, but you don't have to get mushy about it."

"Glad you see it my way."

"Well I don't, but I'm done talking about this. So how many more hours in this stupid plane?"

"I dunno."

"Oh that's just lovely. I can't wait to stretch out. But please don't tell me that you're bringing me back to the family shack."

"Nope, I got that all set up."

"Oh good."

"Yep, you'll be staying in the main house with all of this kids."

"What?!"

"Yeah, I got it all worked out."

"M'kay, as soon as I get some decent reception, I'll make my own arrangements. Thanks for nothing."

I smiled at her. "Take a chill pill. I was only joking. I got you a flat for the next month."

"Oh good, glad you were joking. And glad that I don't have to be stuck in the shack. Ugh."

"Again, the apartment isn't that bad."

"Are you bloody serious? It's not that bad?"

I smiled at her. "Well I mean I could cancel the reservation for your flat if you really want to be my roommate again."
