"I'm so done with all of this! I can't wait to get back to normal life."
Lily sighed. "I agree."
I turned around to look at my sister. "Oh wait, did I just say that out loud?"
Lily nodded and laughed as I smiled.
"Sorry, I thought I was just thinking to myself."
"No worries. So do you think that this is actually going to work?"
"What? Pawning Syd's kids off to our parents to go meet up with Dyl?"
She sat down on the couch. "Yeah, but the whole master plan. What if I blow it all up?"
I joined her on the couch. "Don't worry about it, Lil. You've made it this far without a slip up. Plus you learned how to repeat a fairy-tale story."
She sighed. "Yeah, lying is not something that I never thought that I would be okay with."
"But desperate times call for desperate measures."
"Yeah, I guess."
"And remember, after everything dies down and if not telling the truth is still bothering you, we will come clean and I will take the wrath for you."
"You don't have to do that."
"Well I want to."
"But why?"
"You're my little sister and I taught you how to lie, so it's my fault."
"But I went along with it. So it wouldn't be right for you to take the wrath for me."
"Wow, look who's maturing!"
"Yeah, but I'm still terrified."
"Understandable. So do you know when the Willis' will be here?"
"What? Since I just happen to be their nanny, you think I would know when they were coming?"
"Yes, naughty Lily."
She gave me a puzzling look.
"That's what Dad will call you if you share the wrath with me."
"Oh okay," she said, slowly.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just haven't heard him call me that in so long. It's like an oxymoron."
I sighed. "I know, it's just like sweet Holly."
"You can be sweet and I still wished that you would show that part of you. And the Willis' are here."
"Oh did Sydney text you?"
"No, I can hear Mom excitedly screaming outside."
We laughed.
"C'mon let's go say hi."
Lily and I made our way to the main house and waited with the other kids in the foyer.
I love all of the interactions between Syd, parents and all of the Willis' kids. I'm glad that Syd has another set of parents in mine and she's treated like one of us. Also that her kids are like my parents' practice grandkids. Mom is not sly with her hints about Dylan, Lily and or I getting married off and officially making her a grandma. I know she means well, but maybe that's why she's so invested in our love lives. Maybe.
After we greeted the Willis', all of the kids rushed to the backyard to play with Mom and Dad on their heels. We weren't sure how much time we were given, so this meeting had to happen now. It would've looked suspicious if we went back to our apartment or disappeared into another room, so we talked in the foyer. The plan was to leave after dinner, go meet up with Dylan at the address that he texted me and then Syd and Isaac would go on home. The last thing that we needed was for Mason to get suspicious of why his next door neighbors went missing without a trace. I know it sounds like a minor detail, but it would become a major deal if we didn't think of everything. I would love to say that we surprised Mason too which as far as I was concerned, has never happened, like ever.
