Chapter 15: Bandit Battle

(Yuji's p.o.v.)

Todo, Noelle, and I heard rustling in the surrounding woods, we all put up our guard and prepared to fight what was about to come out of hiding. Since one of the main rules that all jujutsu sorcerers follow is, 'Do not use your cursed techniques in front of outsiders, unless absolutely necessary.' We decided to pull out our cursed tools instead. Todo pulled out his three- sectioned staff, while I drew my xiphos (an ancient Greek sword). The rustling sounds got closer and closer, until the source of the sound made itself visible. It was the group of bandits that Noelle mentioned earlier. I counted 60 of them. One of the bandits stepped forward, which appeared to be the boss and said, "Hahaha, well boys, it looks like these guys were kind enough to set up camp for us, and a cute girl to service us, so let's thank them by killing them quickly!" With that the bandits pulled out their grimoire charged up their attack spells, but those had no effect on me and Todo. The bandits fired their spells at us, and we swiftly dodged them, with our cursed tools in hand, we maneuvered our way to the enemy. I did a diagonal slash to the first bandit's chest and spinned around to the bandit on my right and struck down with my blade at a speed, that he couldn't react in time. Another bandit came at me from behind, so, without turning around, I put a reverse grip on my sword and thrust it into him. I pulled out and moved on to the next.

(Todo's p.o.v.)

I noticed Yuji had already cut down three of the bandits, and while he did that, I was busy kicking ass on my end. When I got up to the enemy, began twirling my three section staff, whacking every bandit and knocking away any spell that came at me. One bandit was armed with a dagger, he came at me but was struck in the temple and fell to the ground. I continued to fight off the bandits, striking every single one who comes tried to kill me.

(Noelle's p.o.v.)

I saw that Yuji and Todo take down the bandits left and right, without even using magic. It was just incredible, they even reminded me of the way Asta fought. But, that was not the time to be standing there awestruck, I had to hold my own and capture as many of those criminals as I could. Since the guys were fighting close quarters, I should do the same.

I deployed water armor and lance, and charged forward the bandits. I flew through the battlefield, striking every foe in my way. We brought all the bandits, except for the leader. Who after watching all of his subordinates taken out right before his eyes, still wouldn't give up and surrender. I was going to suggest that the three take him on at once to make sure he doesn't escape when he was on the verge of defeat, however, Yuji charged at the bandit boss on his own.

(Yuji p.o.v.)

I heard Noelle say, "Yuji, stop! We'll fight him together!", But I decided to take down the bandit boss alone, for one thing he had no regard for the lives of others, for another, is that if I let her go up against him, he'll probably use some underhanded tactic to get the drop on Noelle. Even though she is a self-important aristocratic bitch, the bandit practically said that he intended to violate her, which made me sick to my stomach. Sure, we could've worked together to bring him down, but many sorcerers including myself despise aristocrats, so working with one make me even more nauseous than the bandit raping her.

"Stay out of it, he's mine!" I shouted at her. When I got close enough, I did a horizontal slash right at the boss, but he jumped back and dodged it. He said, "Kid, you're the one I kill the most, seeing that you were the one who killed most of my crew." "You were the ones trying to kill us first, punk. So, you guys have no right to condemn us!" I replied. The bandit got pissed off and said, "You won't be so smug when I beat you at your own game!" With that he pulled out his grimoire and cast a spell.

He said and metal armor had formed on his body as well as a sword and shield in his hands. The bandit boss charged at me with his sword about to strike. He struck downward, but I sidestepped to the left and severed his wrist at the gap in his armor. He screamed in pain, but not for long. While he was screaming, I thrust my sword into his throat, then I pulled out and his body fell to the ground. With that, all the bandits had been taken down. I took down 39 bandits, Todo beat 11, and Noelle defeated 10.

After the fight, I noticed that Noelle had pulled out a magic communicator and contacted her comrades. "Klaus, the bandits attacked me, but fortunately I was able to take them down with some help." The man named Klaus said on the com, "Help? What do you mean by that?" Noelle replied, "I'll explain when you and the others get here." Klaus said, "Understood, we'll be there as soon as we can." He hung up and Noelle turned her attention to us and with an angry look she asked, "So Yuji, why did you charge the bandit boss on your own?" "Why do you care? You mad that I beat you to the punch?" I asked also with an angry look. She replied, "No, what you did was reckless! You could've been killed!" "Are you blind? I took down the more bandits than remember?! "And besides, the thought of working with a royal, makes me want to vomit." I said to her. "Did we not just fight off those bandits together?!" She stated. "Did Todo or me choose to save you when the bandits came at you from behind?!" I yelled. She shook her head in response. "We were fighting to defend ourselves, not because we wanted to help you." Todo said to her. Noelle was left speechless, then she heard her comrades call to her.

' Oh great more royals and nobles to piss us off.' I thought to myself.
