Chapter 47: Secret Revealed

(Julius' p.o.v.)

  For the past 6 months, a string of unexplained deaths had been reported by the Magic Knights. Bodies found ripped to pieces, completely decayed over night, etc. Normally, such cases were a rarity in Clover, happening once every so often, but recently it was beginning to happen more frequently and in more populated areas. We had no idea what could be causing it, but from what I had read from the reports, I doubted that a human could've done it. For that reason, I had called a Captains' Meeting to discuss what we knew so far and try to come up with a solution.

  The captains had arrived and were sitting at the table in the meeting room. I announced, "Thank you all for coming. I called this meeting to discuss the unexplained deaths that have been occuring more and more frequently in the past 6 months. Magic Knights in each of your squads have been on the scene investigating these cases on their missions. If they had reported anything unusual about them, state them." Charlotte replied, "From what Sol had reported to me, there wasn't any sign of a struggle in the cases she had reported. So, I could only assume that whoever or whatever did it, stalked those people before striking." The other Captains said the same thing, but then, Yami said, "There was something more peculiar about the cases that a couple of my squad members looked into." Everyone looked at Yami, curious about what he had to say, and I asked, "What did they find, Yami?" He looked at me and replied, "They all reported a strange, ominous presence on the corpses. One of them, Zora Ideale, reported that it was similar to the aura radiating from that object he found a 6 months ago. Not as strong, but still similar." That was indeed peculiar. It also gave us a clue as to what we're dealing with. However, we would still need to ask someone who would know exactly what it was. "I see. If it has a similar presence to what Zora found, then we will need to find Gojo and his students." They all looked at me and Nozel asked, "Sir, do you mean the ones who infiltrated your castle and stole that item from your office?" I nodded and he replied, "Are you sure that's wise? We still know nothing about this man or his students. For all we know, he could be an enemy." His suspicions were understandable, like Nozel said, we don't know anything about Gojo. Not his motives or anything. But, that doesn't change the fact that would need his help. "I understand your concerns, but given that Gojo and his students knew what that object they stole was, and the fact that Zora Ideale had claimed that he sensed a presence similar to said object at the crime scenes, means that he may also know what has been killing civilians. We need answers, and the only way to do that is if we ask Gojo himself." I stated to Nozel. Then a voice said, "I believe that I can provide some answers." We all looked to the door and saw a man with long black hair, tied in a ponytail appearing from a shadow on the floor. The Captains, except Yami, stood up quickly, ready to attack the unknown man. Yami said, "What are you doing here, Nacht?" They all looked at Yami and Fuegoleon asked, "Yami, you know this man?" He replied, "He's the Vice Captain of my squad." They were all surprised by what he said. Not surprising, since they had never met him before. Nacht said, "I am Nacht Faust, like Yami said, I am the Vice Captain of the Black Bulls. For a long time, I had been working undercover in Spade Kingdom as a spy. Now, I have come to make an urgent report to the Wizard King. And since you're all here, you will need to hear what I have to say as well." I replied, "Very well, what have you learned in Spade Kingdom?"

  Nacht explained, "The current rulers of Spade Kingdom, the Dark Triad, are planning to open the Underworld's Gates and unleash the devils upon our world." We all were shocked by what Nacht just told us. He continued, "To accomplish this, they will need to create the magic channel known as the Tree of Qliphoth. In order to create this channel, they will need Dark Magic and World Tree Magic. Meaning that they will need to abduct Yami and Vangeance. Once the Tree of Qliphoth is complete, the two of them will die. However, the Dark Triad is not the only problem we must face." Rill asked, "How it could possibly get any worse than this." Nacht replied, "A different race that, until recently, had been known only to a rare few. This race is known as 'Cursed Spirits.'". I was puzzled and responded, "Cursed Spirits? What are those?" He went on to explain what Cursed Spirits are, the Jujutsu Sorcerers' existence, the group of Cursed Spirits that had allied themselves with the Dark Triad a month prior, and their objective. Jack replied, "So, they plan to exterminate humanity and replace us with these Cursed Spirits, huh?" Fuegoleon also replied, "And to make matters worse, magic won't work on them." Yami let out a sigh and asked Nacht, "So, why do these Cursed Spirits need to team up with the Dark Triad anyway?" Nacht answered, "To achieve their goal, the Cursed Spirits need to defeat the jujutsu sorcerers, and to do that, they must fulfill two conditions, the first is to render Satoru Gojo and a group known as the 8 Demon Gods incapable of fighting. The second is to get someone named Ryomen Sukuna on their side." Fuegoleon asked, "The 8 Demon Gods?" "From what I heard, they are the strongest sorcerers other than Gojo himself. They all defeated close to 500 Cursed Spirits who were ten times stronger than the Wizard King." We were now in disbelief. We couldn't believe that their are people that strong out there in the world. I asked, "Let me guess, in order to defeat Gojo and the Demon Gods, they would need strength in numbers to even have a chance, correct?" Nacht replied, "Indeed, and the Cursed Spirits told the Triad that the jujutsu sorcerers are planning to defeat them. So, now they are beginning to train the Spade Kingdom mages to fight the sorcerers. They should be ready to attack in 18 months, and once they are done, they will mostly likely come after Yami and Vangeance. With all that in mind, I propose that we ally ourselves with the sorcerers." Nacht had a point, if the Dark Triad did manage to defeat Gojo and the Demon Gods, there would be no stopping them from attacking us and seizing Yami and William. I was about to make my decision when Yami replied, "I don't think that would happen." We all turned to him and I asked, "Why do you think that, Yami?" He answered, "When I told my squad about the two men who stole that item from your office, Nero gave their description and Noelle identified them as the ones who help her in that bandit case, and told her about Asta. And you told us that Gojo said that Asta was a student of his along with the other two. So, that must mean that Asta is a Jujutsu Sorcerer now. Plus, Nacht explained reasons why the Sorcerers have been in hiding for so long. If the Magic Knights, who are mostly made up of aristocrats, came to them to ask them to team up, do you really think they would even entertain that idea?" We all started to think about it, and I couldn't help but agree with him, but that changed nothing. "You may be right, Yami. However, we can't just do nothing." I replied, and everyone except Yami agreed. "That may change when I tell you about what happened to Nero." We were all puzzled by what he meant by that and he went on to tell us about Nero's recent encounter with Asta.

 

  Meanwhile: outside the walls of Jujutsu Academy.

 
  (Noelle's p.o.v.)

  Junpei and I was outside the walls that lead to the Academy where Asta was living in Junpei had trained me for another month in jujutsu, and I had better mastery of my Cursed Technique. I wasn't anywhere near a Special Grade's level, but I was able to easily defeat 2nd Grade Cursed Spirits. It may not be enough to make Asta fight me seriously if the need arose, but I would be able to have a chance to defend myself at least. Nero told me about her meeting with Asta and how he threatened to kill her if he ever saw her again. So, it was likely that I wouldn't have better luck than she did to reason with him. "Are you sure you still want to go through with this?" Junpei asked me. I replied, "I am, I've come too far to back out now. I have to do this." With that, we opened the gates and went inside.
