The Devils of Jujutsu

Chapter 39: The 4 Diamonds part 2

Yuji, Todo, and Kamo told us about the community of jujutsu sorcerers, and a few points did disturb me. Like the fact that sorcerers constantly face death, even more so than magic knights, and often find mutilated corpse's of a cursed spirit's victims. But, the option of a support role off the front lines did seem promising, especially for Domina, Mariella and Fana. I asked, "What kind of support roles are you talking about?" Kamo explained, "Workshops where sorcerers can make cursed tools are in Jujutsu Academy, as well as infirmaries where they provide first aid to any sorcerers who had been injured on missions, they are several options." He turned to Domina and continued, "The first option may interest you, Ms. Dominate. I heard from Asta that you have a talent for making magic tools." My wife replied, "Yes, it does sound interesting." Fana asked, "You mentioned Asta is a sorcerer too, last I heard he was magic knight a few years ago. How did he become a jujutsu sorcerer?" I was curious about that too. How did Asta become a sorcerer, he told me that he wanted to be the Wizard King when I first met him. Not just me and Fana, but Domina and Mariella turned our attention to the three sorcerers, wanting to know what happened to make Asta give up his dream of becoming the strongest magic knight in Clover Kingdom. Yuji sighed and said, "Alright, we'll tell you what happened."

  Todo started off the story, "After the battle with the devil in the Shadow Palace, Asta was falsely accused of being in league with said devil by the nobles and royals of Clover. Asta tried to reason with them, but they were all dead set on making him the culprit to save face. They even threatened to kill everyone who had been possessed by elves during the incident, starting with a little girl, unless he admitted to the false charges. Asta saw that he was no longer welcome in Clover, and said that he would leave the kingdom for good. They made the decision to exile him and he left, resenting the corrupted nation and all it's people." Kamo took over and continued the story, "After leaving Clover, he found his way into a forest in the Grand Magic Region where he settled in a cave by a river. The night he arrived in that remote forest, he started conversing with the devil in his grimoire, the source of his Anti-magic. The devil revealed to be Asta's adopted brother, Liebe, him about how he met and was adopted by their mother, and about her untimely demise at the hand of the Devil King, Lucifero. Asta and Liebe grew close and began training together. Six months after Asta's exile, he and Liebe were approached by our teacher Satoru Gojo. After talking, Gojo asked the brothers if they wanted to become jujutsu sorcerers, and they agreed. They were brought to the Academy where they studied the ways of the Jujutsu World. Then, 7 months ago, we were attacked by a former classmate of Gojo's, Suguru Geto. He announced that he would commit genocide against all non- sorcerers, starting with the capitals of the four kingdoms. He amassed 10,000 cursed spirits to massacre all the civilians, one fourth of them were sent to each of those cities. In order combat this threat, 8 sorcerers were sent to defeat the curses, including Asta, Liebe, Yuji, and Todo. They split into teams of two and went to each capital. They all managed to succeed and became legends, and an object of administration and inspiration to all sorcerers. The higher ups called them, the 8 Demon Gods. This all ended a month ago. " All four of us were shocked that Asta framed for a crime he didn't commit. But I was glad that his devil brother was there for him. Yuji then said, "During the time he was training at the Academy, Asta and Liebe made friends with many other sorcerers, me and Todo were their closest friends. We hanged out quite a lot, even helped train them in hand to hand combat." Mariella stated, "I've decided to become a jujutsu sorcerer." We all turned our attention to her and Domina said, "Are you sure?" She replied, "I am. I know that it's dangerous, but Asta help you, Master, and Fana in the past. It's time that I be there to help him." "Yuji, did Asta ever mention someone named Mars?" Fana asked. Yuji replied, "Yeah he did. Me and Todo actually met him and Ladros. In fact, they both help the Diamond team fight off the curses." We were all surprised by what he told us, Fana on the other hand was absolutely excited to hear that Mars had helped Asta's friends. She happily said, "Really?!" Kamo replied, "Yes, although they haven't learned to use jujutsu yet, because there wasn't enough time before the attack. But they were able to learn how to handle cursed tools. They even agreed to become sorcerers themselves. They even supported the Branch project." We all looked at each other and turned to the three sorcerers. "I think I can speak for all four of us, we like to become jujutsu sorcerers." I announced to them.

We made it back to where Kugisaki and I met Mars and Ladros, and the two Shining Generals were there to meet us. Mars said, "Hey guys!" We both said hi, and Ladros asked, "Who's she?" He pointed at Maki and she introduced herself. "My name is Maki Zenin, I'm a sorcerer like Megumi and Nobara. They brought me along to help out with their mission." They both nodded and introduced themselves to her.

With the pleasantries out of the way, I asked Mars and Ladros, "So, seeing that you guys are locals, do you two have any where in mind for the base?" They said that there was one place they had in mind, and it was near the border to the north.
