Chapter 33: Night Parade ends and Busted

(Asta's p.o.v.)

My cursed technique, Severance, is a technique that launches invisible slash attacks made of cursed energy. It's split into two extension techniques:

Dismantle: a technique that is usually meant for inanimate objects, but can be used to great effectiveness. It launches multiple simultaneous slashes that can mince it's target.

Cleave: a slashing attack that adjust itself depending on the target's toughness and cursed energy level to cut them down in one fell swoop.

Using this seemingly overpowered technique, I massacre the remaining cursed spirits with the help of my devil brother, Liebe. In all the training I did at the academy, there was something that never crossed my mind, so I did a little experiment with cleave. I noticed that three Special Grades were lined up, so I used cleave to see if it could take out multiple targets in one spot, and it appeared that my experiment paid off. I continued to experiment with cleave to see how many I could kill with one use. We spent a whole hour mopping up the remaining cursed spirits, and by then I learned that cleave can kill up to ten targets in one blow, at Special Grade level.

When it was all over, I looked to Liebe and said, "That went easier than I expected." He replied, "You call that easy?" "Granted, we did put a lot of effort and energy into that battle, but on the bright side, we kept our injuries to a minimum." Liebe nodded at what I said and replied, "True, we only have a few broken bones, but that's nothing a reverse cursed technique and some bed rest couldn't fix." He was right, our injuries can be healed easily. But, thinking about our injuries, made me wonder if the other three teams were alright.

To Clover Kingdom

(Yuji's p.o.v.)

Me and Todo both blacked out after the battle with Geto's army. When I woke up, I found myself in an unfamiliar room, laying on a bed. I looked around and saw Todo laying on another bed to my left. I was asking myself how did we get there, until the door opened up, and I saw an old man with grey hair and green eyes, wearing glasses. He looked at me with a smile and said, "Good, your finally awake." I asked him, "Who are you, and how did we get here?" He answered, "I'm Owen, a doctor who serves under the Wizard King. As for how you and your friend got here, a member of the Black Bulls found you on the way back from a mission when she found you, and brought you both to me for treatment." It made sense, I couldn't imagine any other way we could've got there. The man named Owen asked me, "Now, that you're awake, mind telling me your names?" I introduced ourselves, "I'm Yuji Itadori, the big guy is Aoi Todo." Owen's next question got standoffish, "Could you tell me how you two got so injured?" I responded with a stern look on my face, "I have no obligation to answer that." He tried to press the issue, "Please, I need to know if someone attacked you. If so, I'll report to the Wizard King, so that this won't happen to anyone again." He was obviously concerned about the well-being of others. I can understand that, but knowing what we were fighting won't make a difference, and it's none of his beeswax anyway. However, I knew he wouldn't let this go, so I decided to tell him a half lie. "On our way to the capital, e encountered a group of dangerous creatures. They saw us and we knew that we had to fight our way out. We suffered a lot more injuries than you found on us, but before we passed out from the pain, we used what energy we had left to heal our most serious injuries." He believed me because he said, "I see, are any of these creatures still alive?" I replied, "No, we killed the whole group. They just kept coming, no matter how many of them we killed in front of them." He was surprised by what I told him.

We heard groaning coming from my left, we looked and it was Todo sitting up. He look around, saw me, and said, "Yuji, where are we?" I actually forgot to ask about that. "Oh, right. Guess I didn't tell Yuji yet. You're both in the guest chambers of the Wizard King's castle." Owen informed us. "And before you ask, I approved to you staying here until your injuries were healed." A blonde haired child said as he walked in the room. 'A blonde child wearing red robes with medals? This must be the Wizard King?' I thought. I asked the child to confirm my suspicion, "You must be the Wizard King, Julius Novachrono?" The boy asked, "How did you know who I am, only a few magic knights know this?" Todo replied, "Asta told us." Julius' eyes widened at the reveal. He asked, "You know, Asta?" I answered, "Yeah, we met him a couple years ago, he's a good friend." He was surprised, but his attention shifted to something on the nightstand next to my bed. I looked to see what it was and it was the box containing the cursed object where 'liberated' from his office. Shocked to see that it wasn't in my pocket, I started to get worried. Julius grabbed the box and instantly recognized it, and turned to me and said, "This was stolen from my office two nights ago, mind telling me why do you have it?"
