Chapter 9: Blessed by the Black Flash

Me and Asta had been training at the jujutsu academy for a year and a half now. And part of our sorcerer training was to learn to fight hand-to-hand, which we never tried to do when we were living in the forest. We were taught that a sorcerer needs to learn to conserve their cursed energy as much as possible, because since only curses can defeat curses, if we run out of cursed energy, we won't be able to exorcise curse spirits. We learned everything from strikes, kicks, holds, and throws, and we've become quite efficient in fighting that way.

While Asta and I were sparring hand-to-hand, a thought that had been in my mind since we first met Gojou; "A divergent fist without cursed energy, that's interesting." That statement of Gojo's when he saw us infuse our fists with anti magic, still lingered in my head, so we stopped the match and I told Asta about what I had on my mind, he said, "We should go find Gojou and ask about it." He was right, Gojou would know the most about it, seeing that he recognized what we had done. "Alright, let's see if we can find him." I said that and then suddenly, "Did my students just call for me?!" We were startled by the voice that came out of nowhere, and when we spun around, we saw that Gojou was standing there. I said, "Gojou, please don't do that." Gojou just brushed it off and asked us, "So, what is it that you guys need?" Asta replied, "We wanted to ask you, 'What is divergent fist?' We remember you bringing it up when we first met, but we never got around to asking you about it." Gojou responded, "Divergent fist is a technique developed by one of my students when he first came to the academy. He infused his fist with cursed energy, and when the punch landed, his cursed energy lagged behind slightly, creating a second impact. Like what your anti magic infused fist did to that tree." His explanation intrigued us, and also the student that created the technique, I asked him, "Who is this senior of ours?" Gojo's reply surprised us, "His name is Yuji Itadori." "Yuji? The third years mentioned him." Asta stated. Gojou asked, "Would you guys like to train with Yuji? Among all the students and full fledged sorcerers, he is by far the best at close range combat." We both said yes, and he walked over and grabbed ahold of us. As soon as he did, we warped to a clearing in the forest, where two people were going at it. Gojou let go of us and the three of us started walking towards the two fighters, one of them was a tall, muscular man with black hair tied in a top ponytail and a scar running down his face and the other one was shorter with short pink hair. Gojou called out to them, " Hey, Yuji, Todo, what's going on you guys?!" They both stopped fighting and looked in our direction. The pink haired man said , "Hey, What's up, Gojou?" He replied, "I came to introduce you to two of your juniors, the devil's name is Liebe, and next to him is his adoptive brother, Asta." We both greeted the two fighters. The pink one greeted us with a bright smile, "Yo, I'm Yuji Itadori, nice to meet ya." The black haired man followed suit, "Name's, Aoi Todo" Gojou explained, "These two said they wanted to train with you, Yuji. And since Todo is here too, they'll grow even stronger." "I wouldn't mind training them if they're okay with it.", Todo said. Asta answered, "I'm okay with it. What about you, Liebe?" I agreed with Asta and with that, Gojou said goodbye and took off.

After Gojou left, Todo said that we should have a sparring match to see where we should focus on with training. Yuji fought against me, and Todo against Liebe. We all took a fighting stance and when Todo sounded off, we started fighting. I charged forward toward Yuji and we started exchanging blows, some infused with cursed energy. I chained punches and kicks until one of my punches, that had been infused with cursed energy, landed on Yuji, though he cross blocked the hit. Once the strike made contact, I saw a black light flash before my eyes. When that happened we all stopped fighting, but I had noticed that Yuji was sent flying back from the punch, but what really threw me for a loop was that I was now able to sense my cursed energy far better than ever before. Liebe came up and asked, "What was that black light?" I shook my head and said, "I have no idea." Yuji had apparently walked back over to us, because was standing 5 feet next to us with eyes and mouth wide open. Todo  came up and said, "That was a Black Flash." Me and my brother looked at him and with a puzzled look on our faces, we said, "Black Flash?" Todo explained, "Black Flash is an attack that almost no sorcerer can use at will. When cursed energy makes contact within a trillionth of a second of a blow, space distorts and cursed energy flashes black. It has 2.5 times the force of a normal strike, but what truly makes black flash amazing, that once you land a black flash, you temporarily enter a state that athletes commonly call, 'the zone', the cursed energy that you normally control consciously becomes as natural as breathing, and you gain a sense of omnipotence that everything else revolves around you." " That's awesome! But wait, you said almost no one can use it at will, so who can?" Liebe asked. "Yuji Itadori." Todo replied. We were both shock as we looked at the person in question. "I wouldn't say I could use it at will, but it's pretty close." Yuji modestly replied scratching the back of his head. "Still though, that's really amazing." Liebe said to Yuji. Todo clapped his hands and said, "Alright, let's get back to training, and maybe Liebe can do a black flash as well." We nodded and we resumed training, and just as Todo said, Liebe was able to land a black flash too. Not only that, we were able to improve our control over cursed energy greatly. We trained with them for the next three months, and became masters of martial arts.
