Byeol turns to her leader for some help
"Are you sure it's okay that I come?" Byeol asked again and Jaebeom groaned over the speaker. "For the thousandth time, Moon, I wouldn't have told you to come if it wasn't okay. You know Jay loves you." She sighed as she turned the corner, the building coming into sight.
"Yeah, that's the issue. Plus, I don't want to bother you. I know you're busy. I'm about to walk in." Jaebeom chuckled and said he'd meet her at the front. He walked out with a smile and Byeol practically jumped into his arms. "Oh lord I've missed seeing your face every day!" She exclaimed.
"Enough!" Jaebeom groaned, pushing her off of him. "We just went out for lunch the other day with Jinyoung." She rolled her eyes and linked her arm in his. "Besides the point." He sighed again and lead her through the building until they reached a small studio.
"This is nice," she said, looking around. "I like it here a lot. Everyone is so friendly and nice. They're all willing to help out with a lot too." She hummed as she sat down in the swirly chair. "I'm glad you like it here. Your album was amazing too. And you reading those thirst tweets?! That was to die for." Jaebeom rolled his eyes, sitting down next to her.
"Yeah, yeah. Where's the song you wanted me to hear?" She pulled out the flash drive and plugged it into the computer, Jaebeom pulling up the song. He played it and listened, occasionally nodding his head along to the beat. "This is really good," he complimented as it ended. "What exactly did you need help with?"
She shrugged, averting her gaze to her hands. "I just want it to be perfect. It's going to be my first time releasing something as a soloist. I just don't want it to go bad. And I'm doing it all on my own with my own money so I don't want any of that to go to waste."
"Moon," she could feel his gaze on her but she refused to look up, "You've always been an amazing producer. You helped with more than the half the songs on our albums. You helped Yugyeom with one of his too and wrote lyrics for a few of Youngjae's. You've got this," he placed a hand on her knee, giving it a gentle squeeze.
She finally looked up at him and nervously smiled. "Thanks, oppa. I just—I want this to be as good as all of your guy's stuff. Everyone has high expectations and I just don't want to disappoint." Jaebeom clicked his tongue and shook his head. "You make the music you want too, Moon. Not what you think everyone expects. This is all about you now. Make a new sound for yourself if you want to. A new name even."
"I'll be keeping my name, thank you." Jaebeom leaned back in the chair, crossing his arms. "You know, that offer still stands." She raised a brow and brought her knees up to her chest. "Jay said he'd be more than happy to offer you a contract." She scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I'm sure he is more than willing to." Jaebeom huffed. "Not just because he's always had a crush on you, babo. He really thinks that you're talented."
She shrugged and chewed her bottom lip. "Maybe in the future. But right now, I want to do it on my own. On my own terms and with what I like. Like you said, invent a new version of me per say. Put out what I want to put out." Jaebeom smiled and leaned forward to ruffle her hair but she smacked his hand away. "I do not miss you doing that." He stuck his tongue out at her.
"That's my Moon. You know I'll always be here to help. You're going to be a soloist but you're not alone. We'll all help any way we can." She smiled and stood up, feeling much more reassured than she had the past week putting things together. "Thanks. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's an extra large coffee with five shots of expresso waiting for me and your credit card about to be in my hand." She held her hand out and Jaebeom glared at her.
He stood up nonetheless, following her out. "You know I wouldn't do this for anyone else." She winked at him and linked their arms back together.
"That, and also because you secretly don't want me to run into Jay and he start hitting on me."
