Byeol has an allergic reaction
They were all joking and laughing around the table. It was one of their favorite places to eat, for the boys at least. Byeol would rather maker her own food or order take out. She was allergic to peanuts and anything having to do with peanuts so she tended to cook her own food.
However, the boys had wanted to go out for a family dinner and Byeol couldn't say no; especially when JB said he'd pick up the tab. They'd been here for hours already, reminiscing on their old days and talking about future plans. She was honestly surprised that the owner hadn't kicked them out yet for overstaying.
The owner walked in carrying a tray of something fried. "FRIED ICE CREAM!" BamBam yelled and the others looked at him with raised brows. Sure, he wasn't the only foreign member, but sometimes his tastes were rather . . . odd. "I'm sorry, fried what?" Byeol said, poking the dessert.
"They have it in western countries. I got it at a carnival thingy one time with Yugyeom-ah." BamBam said, picking up one of the golden balls and popping it in his mouth. "Delicious!" JB hit his back. "Don't talk with food in your mouth, kid." He scolded and BamBam rolled his eyes, purposely chomping in JB's ear.
Byeol laughed, picking up one of the desserts and putting it in her mouth. It did taste good, she'd have to give Bam that. But she felt her tongue tingle a little. She ignored it, swallowing the food and leaning back, hands on her stomach. She had definitely eaten too much. Her throat started to feel itchy; she coughed a few times but it didn't help.
"You alright?" Youngjae asked. She nodded, picking up her glass of water and drinking some. It still did nothing to alleviate the itching feeling her throat. It also felt like someone had their hands around her neck, her breathing become heavier. "Yah! Moon!" Mark said, worry taking over as he turned towards her.
"I think s—something was wrong with that ice cream." She said, breathing heavier and she was still coughing to try and ease the feeling in her throat. "It was fine for me," Bam said, picking up one of the ice cream balls and examining it. "THE OIL!" Yugyeom yelled and the others jumped.
"Call an ambulance!" Mark yelled. Byeol's face was turning a little blue and her eyes were drooping. Her lips were also faintly blue and a little swollen. "Peanut oil!" JB said, immediately standing up and running to find the owner. "Hey, Moon-ah. Keep your eyes open. Squeeze my hand. Help is coming." Youngjae said, gripping her hand and trying to position her so she could breathe better.
"Does anyone have an EpiPen?" Jackson asked, rummaging through her purse. Everyone shook their heads. "Dammit!" He growled. They all stared helpless as Byeol gasped for air. "Move! They're here!" JB said, running into their secluded space and practically throwing everyone out of the way.
Paramedics rushed in, one of them immediately jamming something into her leg. She took in a big gasp of air, coughing. "Hey, hey," Mark said, immediately by her side. She gripped his hand. "We need to get her to the hospital." The paramedic said, lifting her on to the stretcher. He went to insert an IV and Byeol whimpered. Needles weren't her thing.
"Here, squeeze my hand." Mark said, grabbing hers and she sure squeezed. He winced a little, but let her squeeze as hard as she needed too. "It's some allergy medicine to help until we reach the hospital." The paramedic explained and Byeol nodded, feeling tired and anxious.
They lifted the stretcher, about to move her but she wouldn't let go of her death grip on Mark's hand. She just almost died, had two needles jabbed into her. The last thing she was going to do was go to the hospital on her own. "Let go of me you leech." Mark teased lightly by Byeol shook her head. "Like hell I will." She croaked out.
Mark sighed, smiling at the paramedic. "S'alright if I tag along?" The paramedic nodded and finally Byeol was in the back of the ambulance on the way to the hospital. She felt much better, it was still a little hard to breath but her lips were no longer blue and the swelling was going down. "You probably planned that," she said weakly to Mark.
He chuckled, rubbing her hand with his thumb. "Caught me. Though if I knew you wouldn't let go I would've done it to BamBam." He teased back and she chuckled, coughing a little. Mark leaned forward, worry on his face but he tried to hide it. "Take it easy, baby." He cooed and Byeol smiled. Mark teased her all the time; she didn't mind, she teased him right back.
Seeing this side of him was a rarity to her and she was going to soak it all in. "Promise you won't leave me alone?" She said quietly and Mark chuckled. "Not like you'd be able to come find me," her eyes widened with worry and he heard the beeps on the heart monitor increase in speed.
"Yah! Babo. You know I wouldn't. I'm just teasing. Besides. With the way JB drives in a panic, they're all probably there making sure you get the best room." She smiled, heart rate turning back to normal and Mark sighed in relief.
"Next time we're getting take-out." He mused.
