Chapter 2 - We're going where?

*Cordelia's POV*

<the next day>

I woke up to find Lea gone so I started reading my favorite book 'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu. I've read it over 10 times but I don't mind, it's a good book. Lea came up and said she was going out and that there were pancakes on the stove.

After 5 more minutes of reading I decided to get up and have breakfast. There were 3 pancakes left so I decided to finish them. Once I was done I washed up the dishes and sat down on the couch and continued reading the art of war. Before I knew it, Lea was coming through the front door.

She sat next to me and i didn't even look at her, "what took you so long huh? Did you see Tommy again~" I said teasingly.

"Fuck off. Yes I did, but that is none of your business," She said, folding her arms. I looked up at her with a 'mmhm' look. Lea looked at me angrily, I knew she would tell me anyway. Lea proceeded to tell me about her and Tommy hanging out and once she had finished I looked at her with a smirk on my face.

She clearly ignored me and started a conversation about 'The Art of War' instead. She knew I was passionate about this book so it would stop me questioning her anymore about her and Tommy.

A/N: I'm lazy, so I'm just going to copy and paste from the other book so if you have read that book then you can skip this if you want , because it will just be the same.

*Lea's POV*

We were talking about 'The Art of War' until we heard the front door open. "Lea? Cordelia? We're home!" I heard Mary shout up the stairs, me and Cory got up from my bed and went down stairs to greet them.

"Hi girls! What have you been up to?" Mary asked, giving me a hug.

"We've just been chatting, yeah know? I'm sorry, we really should have started on dinner, that's my bad. I'll go start now." I was about to go into the kitchen when Mary put her hand on my shoulder stopping me.

I looked over at her with question in my eyes. "Come to the lounge lady's, Lester, can you start on dinner? I'll come and help once I've told them."

Me and Cory looked at each other like 'oh shit' thinking we had done something. "Girls there's no need to worry! You're not in trouble! It's nothing bad, if anything is good," Mary said, beckoning us over to the lounge.

I shared a skeptical look with Cory before sitting down across from Mary. She was holding two bags in her hand and looked really excited. "Okay so me and Lester decided science you are both over 16 now.... You can go to the ball that's coming up for Prince Thomas' birthday!" she said, handing us each a bag.

Cory was first to reach into the bag and pull out a beautiful dress, she gasped at the site and then looked at Mary realizing. I reached into my bag and pulled out the most beautiful dress I had ever seen. Me and Cory had never been to one of the kingdom's balls before, we never really found it interesting, yes we've thought about it but never actually asked Mary about going to one.

Me and Cory looked at each other, with glee in our eyes, this is going to be such a new experience for us and we were excited. Then I suddenly thought, "what about you and Lester, are you coming?" I said to Mary.

"Oh no dear we've gone to many before we don't need to get past our time, you girls are all grown up and we knew it was time, so me and Lester stayed longer at work to finish off your dresses," she said with a motherly smile.

We both jumped to hug Mary, even though she wasn't our real mother she was always there for us and acted like she was. "So the ball is tomorrow night and you girls need a good night's sleep. you're going to be up partying at that ball till 2 in the morning!"

As we ate dinner we listened intently to the stories of when Mary and Lester went to balls together in their youth. It was so nice hearing about the nights they danced away together and I couldn't help but think that, that will be me and my big sister tomorrow.

That night Cory and I couldn't sleep, we were just so excited! We kept chatting about what we would do and what it would be like.

"Stop looking at me like that," I said, Cory wiggled her eyebrows at me.

"oh come on you're no fun. You like him~" Cory said teasingly. Even in the dark I could tell she had a smug smile plastered across her face.

"I can practically feel the heat radiating from your face Lea~" I turned over in my bed so I wasn't facing her.

She couldn't help but laugh at me, "goodnight Lea," she said.

"Goodnight Cory," I replied.

I sighed, tomorrow was going to be fun. And with that we fell asleep.

A/N: ahhhh! they're going to the ball! Man, I wonder who Lea is going to meet? Hmm wouldn't have a clue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
