Chapter 21 - Overwhelmed

"H-how old are you Cordelia? And what's your sister's name?" Ana asked, suddenly getting serious.

"Umm I'm 22 years old and my sister's name is Leanna. She's 16. Why do you ask?" Cordelia said, worried as to why the king and queen were getting so serious.

Ana and Aldrich gasped slightly and looked at each other.

"What?" Cordelia asked.

*Cordelia's POV*

I started to get worried as to why the king and queen were getting serious. Did I say something?

"Is there something wrong?" I asked, nervously.

"Cordelia, sweetie... do you... by any chance... have a necklace?" Aldrich asked....hopefully?

"Yes...? Why?" I asked, getting scared. I felt Techno's hand rest on top of mine under the table. It was comforting.

"Can you... show it to us?" Ana asked and I was getting more and more confused. I then started to take off my necklace and when I pulled it out of my shirt/dress the king and queen gasped.

They got up and walked over to me gently caressing the necklace. "Your majesty's?" I asked, getting really worried.

"This is the same necklace that we gave our daughter.... Cordelia..." Ana said, looking at me.

I looked at them confused, I had the same necklace as their daughter? "I don't understand?"

"15 years ago... there was a fire here... our two daughters- they didn't make it... they were so young, too young..." Ana said, tears falling down her face.

"Our eldest daughter was 7 when it happened. We told her to run... so she took her 1 year old sister and ran. But after the fire was out we couldn't find them and we thought they died," Aldrich finished Ana's sentence.

"Their names were... Cordelia and Leanna..." Ana said, looking at me and so did Aldrich.

I started to connect the dots and I stood up shaking my head. "No. You're not suggesting what I think you're suggesting...." I said, tears filling my eyes.

"Cordelia... you didn't die in the fire that night, you got away.... But you must have lost your memory," Ana said, in complete tears now.

"No t-this can't b-be real. I'm just a-a-a royal guard!" I said, not wanting to believe what logic was telling me.

I got out of my chair and walked around shaking my head. "Cordelia. Calm down," I heard Techno's voice.

"Calm down? Calm down!? I just found out that I might be a princess and you're telling me to calm down!" I yelled, before grabbing my head when a sudden wave of dizziness hit me.

"Cordelia?" I heard Techno talk again. Things in my vision started to go blurry and I stumbled slightly. I didn't remember what happened next because I passed out.

*Technoblade's POV*

"Cordelia?" I said worriedly. I saw her eyes flutter a little before she stumbled. Her eyes then rolled back and her body went limp.

Reacting quickly, I managed to catch her, "Cordelia!" I said, holding her.

The king and queen quickly made their way over to me holding Cordelia's limp body. "Oh dear," Ana said, holding Cordelia's face gently.

"She probably fainted from being overloaded with everything," I said looking down at her.

"I don't blame her... she probably needs rest. Let's take her to her old room," Aldrich said, leading me to Cordelia's old room.

I hooked my arm under Cordelia's knees and lifted her up bridal style. We made our way through the halls of the castle before reaching a door.

When Aldrich opened it, I was met with a beautiful room. I walked over to her bed and placed her down on it gently.

It looked like this:

Once Cordelia was laying down in her old bed peacefully I felt someone sit beside me. Ana had sat down beside me and was also admiring Cordelia.

"She's beautiful isn't she?" Ana said, looking at me.

"Hm, yeah..." I said, smiling down at Cordelia.

"Don't hurt her okay?" I heard Aldrich's voice behind me and he placed his hand on my shoulder.

"I won't," I said, looking up at him. He patted my back, smiling.

"Good man," Aldrich said, "now she needs rest. We should probably leave her be."

"I'll stay with her," I said, "she needs someone to protect her."

"This is a very secure plac-" Aldrich started.

"Let him stay hun," Ana said, placing her hand on her husband's shoulder.

A/N: I've drunk way too much tea ☕️ 🫖 but I can't stop! There's too much!

I feel like I made it way too obvious that she was a princess in the first chapters... but that's fine.

And if you read my other book with Wilbur the shut up... I know okay?

I like this trope....
