The light from inside my house quickly faded out of view as I walked back towards the ocean, already I could feel the chill of the night on my skin.
this better be worth it-
The rejection from earlier stung a bit but I was beginning to overcome my pessimism from earlier- in a way this was more motivating.
...
not that i needed any motivation at all bc its literally my future on the line
://
"-And to many more!" I caught the end of a celebratory toast from a nearby tavern, light and laughter spilling onto the street as some drunk stumbled outside.
right- i should start looking
"Have you seen the Captain anywhere?" I called out to a drunk sailor- stumbling back to his ship.
"The Captain?" He gave me a once over, "you're the merchant's daughter aren't you?"
THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS
"You're drunk," I frowned.
pls forget this ever happened <3
"That's right," he laughed loudly, distracted, "she's in there- good luck getting to her."
UHH ?? THANKS ??
"-the serpent reared its monstrous head and-" a storyteller sitting by a roaring fireplace was animatedly recounting some tale as I slipped into the tavern.
"What can I get you?" A barmaid called out to me- a tinge of exasperation in her tone.
"Annie- get over here!" One of the patrons yelled, 'Annie' turned around flipping him off before moving closer.
"Don't just stand there- I don't have all night," she juggled a tray full of empty glasses.
"I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the Captain?" My words caused her to frown, giving me a quick once over.
"You're that merchant girl aren't you?"
SINCE EVERYONE IS ASKING ... YEAH I AM :///
"That's right," I nodded, glancing around the room.
"Good luck," Annie scoffed, gesturing to a particularly rowdy group of tables.
I wrestled my way over, the hot slightly muggy climate of the bar a complete contrast to the chill of the outside air.
im regretting this-
"I told him to piss off right then and there!" A young man was telling a story, the rest of what I assumed was the crew listening and occasionally making loud comments. My eyes scanned over the tables searching for the elusive Captain.
"Aren't you that-" An angelic-looking woman noticed me standing on the outskirts of their group. "Ymir you have a visitor!"
is that her name?
it fits her-
captain ymir huh?
"Eh? Who?" 'Ymir' whipped her head around, her expression shifting to something like disdain when her gaze met mine. "I told you to wait until next week didn't I?"
"Screw off," the man who had been telling a story earlier jeered.
"Now- calm down," Ymir smirked slightly, "we wouldn't want to scare off someone who lowered herself to our standards to come visit us."
I KNOW YOU HATE ME BUT IM REALLY NOT THAT BAD
AT LEAST I HOPE IM NOT
I MEAN- I DONT LOOK DOWN AT YOU AT ALL
i really-
i admire you
but if that's how it's going to be
it's only fair of me to get a little pissed off right?
"Who said I was here for you," I frowned, grabbing a glass full of some gross-looking drink off of Annie's tray as she walked by.
IM SO SORRY
"Hey, watch it!" She whirled around, glaring at me, I pulled out a pouch of money placing five gold coins into her hand.
I HOPE THAT'S ENOUGH
"So? What does a spoiled brat like you have to drink about?" Ymir laughed, leaning forward at her table, she quietly gestured to one of her crew to move, clearing a space for me.
my future
"Wouldn't you like to know?" I sighed, sitting down.
"I can guess," she seemed to find my attitude amusing, "your father sent you here to try and weasel a deal out of me. Listen here, it's not going to happen no matter how many attractive daughters he sends me."
i came here to weasel a deal out of you- that's not wrong but
i need it for myself
SO PLEASE-
"Wrong, and I'm his only attractive daughter."
"Believe me, I know that," she chuckled, her crew who had been hanging around the tables earlier had cleared to give us some space.
"Maybe I was just feeling rebellious," I frowned.
"Maybe, but I don't buy it- it's clearly your first time here."
"And how do you know that?"
"You have shit taste in alcohol for a regular," she pointed at the drink I had yet to touch.
"Sounds like a difference in opinion to me," I downed the drink, the vile-tasting substance burning as it went down.
"I appreciate your guts but you're a bad actor," she leaned back calling Annie over, "get the girl some water."
"What the fuck was that-" I cursed, the bitter taste of the drink lingering in my mouth.
"Isn't that language a bit foul for a lady such as yourself?"
"Does it bother you?" I frowned, the aftertaste lingering in my mouth.
"Isn't that language a bit foul for a lady such as yourself?"
"Does it bother you?"
"What are you here for?" A grin spread across her features.
"I told you- I was feeling rebellious."
"Sure you were," she laughed, "then should I indulge you in your rebellion a little longer?"
"What were you thinking?"
"Hey!" She called out to her crew, "what do you think about taking our trust fund baby out for some fun?"
