Irene arrived at the Manoban family mansion a short while later. It seemed as though she had a different feeling every time she came to this place.
"Miss Bae, you are finally here," the butler greeted Irene courteously when she arrived at the front door. "Both Miss Park and Miss Ava have already arrived."
"I know." Irene could hear the laughter coming from inside the house. They were happily conversing inside while to them, she was merely an outsider.
"Miss Bae has arrived," the butler announced as he opened the door for Irene.
Irene lifted her dress slightly and held onto her silver-colored purse as she walked into the living room. The first thing that caught her eye was Nickhun sitting on the sofa cuddling with Sooyoung, while Tae Hee and Min Young was sitting on the other sofa directly opposite them.
"Well, look who's finally here," Min Young said sarcastically as she turned around to look at Irene. "Irene, come over here and have a seat. We are currently in the midst of discussing your elder sister and future brother-in-law's marriage."
Nickhun and Sooyoung deliberately clung onto one another in an attempt to provoke Irene.
"Co-mother-in-law, aren't we currently discussing the choices for the bridesmaids? I think Irene would be a very suitable candidate. Furthermore, if Irene was Sooyoung's bridesmaid, it could expel the rumour that the relationship between the two sisters is not good. What do you think?" Min Young quickly suggested to Tae Hee.
Although she tried to pretend that she was only suggesting it for the sake of the sisters, Min Young's true intention was nothing more than to humiliate Irene.
She was trying to show Irene that she was the helpless one now even though she had despised her son in the past.
"Sooyoung is the top actress in the industry. Doesn't she have any friends that she could ask to be her bridesmaids?" Irene asked suddenly. "My reputation is so tainted right now. I do not want to be involved in her marriage in case I have to take the blame when something happens."
Tae Hee gestured for Irene to sit next to her before she agreed with Irene's statement. "I also agree that Sooyoung should look for someone else to be her bridesmaid."
Tae Hee had not said that because she was afraid of Irene's tainted reputation. She said that because she was afraid that Irene would try to ruin Sooyoung's wedding.
"Since you have said so, I will not push for it any further," Min Young said as she laughed. "I only suggested it because I feel bad for Irene. After all, she was engaged to Nickhun and this could have been her wedding instead. Co-mother-in-law, why don't I recommend a nice young man to Irene? Would you support that idea?"
"Don't worry, I will take care of matters relating to my own daughter," Tae Hee replied coldly, as she rejected the idea instantly.
Irene sat silently beside Tae Hee as she watched the drama that was unfolding before her.
Although Irene did not know what Tae Hee's intentions were, she was at least grateful that Tae Hee was smart enough to be wary and guard against an outsider's intention.
"Oh, if you had not mentioned it, I would have forgotten that Irene is your biological daughter."
Min Young was trying to sow discord between the mother and daughter by intentionally bringing up the fact that Tae Hee had left Irene and her family behind when she departed to the United States all by herself many years ago.
"How come auntie still has so much to say even after being treated like a servant for the past few days? I thought you would have learnt how to watch yourself and to think twice before opening that mouth of yours," Irene immediately counterattacked. "Do you really think that your status would be any higher, just because you are making use of Sooyoung to get close to HYBE Enterprise?"
