Chapter 16 - You Cannot Even be Compared to A Dog

After a forty minutes' drive, Lisa's black car finally turned into the garden of the Manoban family mansion. The butler quickly rushed forward to greet and receive Lisa, but she was extremely surprised when she saw Irene getting out of the car.

"Second Young Miss. Miss Bae." The butler greeted them respectfully although he felt that it was extremely strange for Miss Bae to appear with the second young miss.

"Where is Nickhun?" Irene asked without any hesitation.

"He is waiting for you in the living room," the butler replied respectfully before opening the door for Irene.

"You should go in first," Lisa directed Irene before using her eyes to indicate to the butler that she should not go in to report his arrival.

Although the butler was suspicious and curious about what was going on, he followed Lisa's instructions and stayed outside.

Irene turned around to look at Lisa before entering the mansion. When she entered the living room, she saw Nickhun laughing and chatting with his mother on the sofa.

"Shrewd woman, which man were you busy accompanying today? I thought that you cared about your mentally retarded grandfather. To think that you made me wait for you for the whole day," Nickhun said as soon as he saw Irene. He stood up and wanted to grab hold of Irene, but he was stopped by his mother before he could reach her.

"It's not that I am picking sides Irene, but Nickhun called you early in the morning. Why are you only here now?" Min Young asked as she signaled for Nickhun to back off and not ruin their plan.

Irene stared at both the mother and son who were so full of themselves. She was extremely sick of them. No, she was disgusted by their actions.

She did not want to spend a second longer with either of them.

However, her idol was standing outside, watching and listening to them, so she had to put on a good show for her.

"I did not expect that the Manoban family would so kind as to welcome me back again," Irene deliberately replied in a humble manner.

"You must have been so delighted the moment you hear that I will marry you. After all, the Bae family had already lost their prestigious status and reputation for so many years. You should be very excited that you finally have this opportunity to marry into the Manoban family after plotting for so many years. Am I right?" Nickhun said arrogantly as soon as he heard Irene flattering him.

"Yes," Irene nodded and replied reluctantly.

"Irene, since you still intend to marry into the Manoban family, then let me say a few things to you. After all, the Bae family's standing has not been great for the past few years. I am only saying this so that the both of you can have a long and happy marriage in the future. Don't you agree with me?" Min Young said as she put down the teacup in her hand and arranged her posture elegantly, taking on the role of an elder.

"Alright then, you can speak. I will listen," Irene said as she sat down on the sofa opposite her.

"First of all, you and Nickhun are from two totally different family backgrounds. Once you marry into the Manoban family, you have to obey all our virtues and family rules. Everything your husband says counts and you would have to put him first regardless of what you do. I think you understand this point very well yourself, right?"

"Secondly, after you marry into the Manoban family, I will not stop you from furthering your career in acting. However, you will have to hand over all of your income and earnings to me. After all, the entertainment industry is very chaotic and I do not want you to be out spending money and doing things that are frowned upon. You must understand that Nickhun works very hard for the Manoban family."
