'Lose.'

"What?" I said, frosty air puffing out from my mouth.

'Lose, lose, lose.'

A hushed, demonic voice growled out in the darkest pit of my mind. It was hardly coherent at all but somehow I understood it.

'You're gonna lose.'

"Lose?" I asked.

All I saw was darkness. There was nothing but pitch black. I turned around on the spot fearfully, trying to spot something in the murky fog. Suddenly the demon's voice altered, sounding a lot more like my own.

'You're gonna lose, Danny! You're gonna lose, lose, lose!' It cackled loudly and I covered my ears.

Black wind twirled around me and my hair whipped wildly with it. But then suddenly the wind stilled and all was silent. The silence was too much, I could hear my heart thump against my chest. I dwelled on the creature's words—that it spoke with my own voice.

'You're gonna lose—!'

"Danny?"

A huge spidery claw emerged from the dark and slammed down towards me. A shriek escaped me as I dove out of the way.

Not this again...

"Let us all go!" I growled.

The Entity hissed in reply and went to swing at me again, but stopped.

"I can't lose."

'You can lose.' It corrected.

I was about to snap in reply but then felt my hand wrap around something wooden. I looked down and noticed a blade in my grip.

My pocketknife.

It was the same one I kept under my pillow—the one that the Ghost Face carved my name into. But it looked a bit different this time. The blade seemed longer—sharper. It looked altered like the weapons the killers would strike me with back when I was a survivor.

"I'm not afraid of you anymore." I snarled as I held the knife up to examine closer.

I grabbed the handle again and heard a small 'clink' of metal hitting the wood. I snapped my head down to the pocketknife and noticed a big diamond ring around my finger.

"A wedding ring...?" I trailed and suddenly felt dizzy.

'You can lose.'

I heard a female voice but I couldn't understand what she was saying. A soft groan left my lips as I was slowly pulled back out into reality. My eyes stayed closed and I couldn't move, my body laid stiff on the concrete. Hands landed on me, shaking me gently.

"Excuse me? Hey, wake up! Hello?"

"Ahh..." I rasped out quietly.

"Yo, wake up! You think this is the time to be sleeping?" The girl shouted before smacking me in my side.

"Ow!"

I kept my eyes shut and rose to a seated position. I cracked my eyes open groggily and stared confusingly at the younger girl before me.

"What the hell?" I said, tangling my fingers in my hair as I clutched my achy head.

"Ooh, sorry. Did I smack you too hard? My bad. You're a deep sleeper!" She giggled.

I stared at the girl sitting before me. How did she get here? She was clearly younger than me, in her teenage years. Her long—very long black hair was pulled back into a braid and she had these real dark brown eyes. She smiled brightly at me, those dark eyes glistening.
