"Serenity." Jonathan called as he looked at her through the rear view mirror as they were on their to the office.

"Yes, daddy?" She happily replied, looking up from her iPad mini.

Jonathan turned around to face her. "My boss is doing a really nice thing by allowing this, so you have to be good today."

The day was finally here. Take your child to work day, and Serenity has never been so excited and anxious in all her five years of her life! Since she was told that she would be able to visit his job, she hasn't stopped talking about it. She was ready to see what her father did all day, everyday. Serenity was five years-old but she was well aware that this job was life changing for her family. She noticed the difference in how they were living. She had to know her father's job description, and she has one million questions to ask.

"But I'm always good." Serenity told him.

"You have to be extremely good." He added. "I know that you're still upset that we can't be together for Christmas."

"Mhmm." Serenity grinned devilishly.

"Be nice, Serenity." Jonathan warned his daughter kindly yet sternly. "Otherwise Daddy will lose this job and won't be able to buy you and your sister toys anymore."

"Okay, Daddy. I promise to be ex..?" Serenity started but she couldn't quite pronounce the word. She looked at her father for help.

Jonathan chuckled lightly her confused facial expression. It was funny because that was his exact face. He quickly remembered a picture of him as baby with that very expression. "Extremely."

"Yes!" She exclaimed with a smile. "That much good!"

"We'll work on that later." Jonathan said knowing that she still couldn't pronounce it. He took the key out of the ignition and stepped out of the car. Serenity unbuckled her carseat and impatiently waited for her door to be opened. She held his hand as they walked to and into the Parkwood building. They were briefly greeted by Ms. Calloway.

"Daddy, who was that?" Serenity asked as they stepped on the elevator.

"She's on the hospitality team. She guides people, tells them where to go and she sometimes answers the phone." Jonathan explained.

"Oh, that's easyy!" Serenity smiled.

"Yes, she has the easiest job here."

"Does she make the money that you do?" Curiously, she asked.

Jonathan laughed. "No. She gets paid hourly. Daddy gets a salary."

Serenity frown hard in confusion. "Huh? You get veggies??"

"No, babe." Jonathan said laughing. "Salary, not celery."

"Oh, I was about to say! What's that mean?"

"Ms. Calloway gets paid X amount of money every hour. Let's say she gets paid ten dollars an hour and she works for eight hours, that's eighty dollars a day."

"Ohh. Can't buy much with that." Serenity shrugged her shoulders. "What about you?"

"Daddy gets the same amount of money no matter how many hours or days I work."

"So, if you miss work one day, you still get paid for that day?" She asked for clarification.

"Yes. I have to be sick, or family emergency- something like that."

"That's really cool! You should have a lot of family emergencies! Don't work but still get paid." She giggled as if she were the first person to think of that.
