"Calvin!" Tina exclaimed with a smile. She was beyond happy to see her soon-to-be son in law. Between Alan and Calvin, Calvin was her favorite. Everyone knew why. Calvin was nearly a billionaire, while Alan's net worth wasn't even close. Tina didn't care that Alan took care of her daughter in every aspect. He didn't make enough money, that's all she cared about.
"We were just talking about you! Why are you knocking?" She asked with a confused look upon her face. "And why do you have boxes? Are you guys moving?? Hopefully to a gated home!" Tina ranted. "Honey, step aside, let the man inside!" She said to Taylor. Without rolling her eyes like she desired, Taylor took one step to the left to allow Calvin to enter.
Calvin chuckled as he stepped in the house that he once lived in. "Hi, Mrs. Anderson-"
"I have told you about that." Tina said caressing his arm gently, giving him a knowing look. "You're about to marry my daughter."
Calvin instantly looked at Taylor as her eyes widened. "You obviously haven't told your mother."
"I was trying to give myself some time-" Taylor started but she was cut off by her mother.
"Tell me what?" Tina asked frantically. "Give yourself time to what??"
"To breathe and to think-" Taylor answered after releasing a sigh.
"About what!?" Tina asked, causing Taylor's anxiety to rise.
"Life- my life." Tina looked at Taylor oddly, trying to figure what she meant.
"Mom, the wedding is off-"
"Excuse me??" Tina questioned with wide eyes. "The wedding is off?? What do you mean the wedding is off?!" She asked as if it her wedding that was being called off. Taylor took a deep breath, preparing herself the moment she was trying so hard to avoid. Calvin looked at her and surprisingly felt bad for her. He wasn't too fond of her at the moment but he knew how her was, and how much Taylor didn't like their relationship.
"We ended things between us." Calvin answered for his ex fiancée. "We're not getting married anymore."
"Why not? Taylor, what did you do?" Angrily, Tina asked.
"Taylor isn't solely at fault." He said before before Taylor could open her mouth. "We both are guilty of why things ended sourly."
"Well, if you both know this, then why not fix it?" Tina asked, like it was just that easy.
"Too much damage has been done at this point in the relationship." Calvin told her plain and simple.
"There's no such thing, darling! Look at this home that you two bought together. You two are so successful as individuals, but as a unit? Incredible. Your beautiful wedding can still happen!" Tina said with beaming eyes as she looked around the home.
"Mrs. Anderson, your daughter and I just want different things in life. It's really not going work- we've tried." Politely, he told her.
"Taylor, let that go." Tina told her daughter sternly. "You're losing this good man for something so silly-"
"Mom. Stop!" Taylor yelled angrily. She wanted so badly to tell her mother that Calvin wasn't as good as she made him out to be. Tina didn't know the entire nature of their relationship. All she knew was that Calvin was filthy rich and Taylor would never yearn for any material thing if she stopped working. "This is my life-"
"And you're ruining it! You better come to your senses and quick! Before Calvin actually sends emails to everyone about the wedding being off."
"He doesn't have to." Nonchalantly, Taylor said. "My assistant is doing that tomorrow." Calvin could only blow his breath and roll his eyes, catching Tina's attention. Tina looked at Taylor with furrowed eyebrows then looked back Calvin, who just shrugged his shoulders.
