"Hi, Da da." Joy ran up to her father, Serenity was right behind her. They nearly knocked him down, which brought a bright, wide smile to his face. Jonathan bent his knees and scooped them up in his arms. Serenity on the left and Joy on the right, with one of their arms draped over his shoulder.
"Heeey, Daddy's babies!" Jonathan exclaimed happily then glanced over at Denise and a man that he did not know. He was beyond upset with Denise and this situation but he wouldn't show it in front of his daughters.
"Hey, Daddy." Serenity smiled.
"Hey, sweetheart." He kissed her forehead.
"How was work, Daddy?" She asked, genuinely wanting to know.
"Ohhh, baby girl. Work was work."
"You sound tired." Serenity told him with concern. She furrowed her eyebrows "You had a rough day?"
"It was nothing that Daddy can't handle." He answered honestly. "How was school, gorgeous girl?"
"School was school." Serenity mocked her father, and he chuckled at her silliness.
"Daddy, everybody liked my shoes!!" Serenity exclaimed.
"Did they!?"
"Mhmm." He nodded quickly. "I made more friends, too."
"That's great, baby." Jonathan smiled proudly.
"Ain't it?" Serenity smiled. Jonathan chuckled as he shook his head at his daughter sounding exactly like her Grandmother, Aretha.
"Baby, stop saying 'ain't'." He told her. "Say isn't instead."
"Isn't?" Serenity questioned with furrowed eyebrows.
"Yes." Jonathan nodded his head.
"Okay! Daddy, I need help with my homework." Serenity said.
"Why didn't you ask your Mom for help?"
She shrugged her shoulder. "Mommy didn't ask if I had homework."
"So, what have you been doing since you've been out of school?"
"Playing games." Joy chimed in.
"We had fun, huh guys?" The man on the couch asked them in chipper tone of voice. With everything in him, Jonathan tried his hardest not to respond with the first thought. He wanted to go off and curse out Denise, and whoever this man was.
"Yeah. We played freeze tag!" Serenity said excitedly. "Annnnnnd cartoon tag."
"That's awesome, Ren." He smiled at them.
"Daddy, can we get Chick-Fil-A for dinner?" Serenity asked.
"You didn't eat?"
"Yeah, but I'm still hungry." Serenity said rubbing her belly. "I want a double whopper, with fries, and a strawberry shake!"
"Alright, go upstairs and watch TV or something while I talk to your Mom." Jonathan set both of them down on the floor and they took off running towards the stairs.
"Are you kidding me?" Angrily, Jonathan asked Denise.
"What did I do?" Clueless, she asked.
"I'm just gonna go, D." The man said, feeling uncomfortable.
"No, you can stay, babe." Denise told him, as she held his arm to stop him.
"Who is this?" Jonathan asked aggressively.
Denise sighed. "This is Aaron. Aaron, this is Jonathan."
"Nice to meet you, Jonathan." Aaron said extending his arm to shake his hand, but Jonathan just looked at his hand. Completely ignoring him, he turned to Denise.
