Taylor laid comfortably in her bed, snuggled tightly under her covers. She was watching one of her favorite movies, Deliver Us From Eva. It was her favorite but she wasn't enjoying it and laughing like she normally did. She was in a funk because it was after ten PM and she had yet to receive that "how was the rest of your day, how's your night going, goodnight" call. She was more focused on why he hasn't called than enjoying her movie.

She hated the fact that her guard was slowly but surely falling down with Jonathan. She wanted to keep the wall between the two of them tall and strong. That's how it had to be in order to prevent being hurt and embarrassed again. Everyday Jonathan managed to lift the corners of her mouth. He enjoyed watching her smile at him, while she hated it. Sometimes her smile only lasted a couple of seconds before she was shutting him down or giving him extra work to do. What she felt for Jonathan was beyond her control and it frustrates her to no end. She didn't want to give him another chance! She had to remind herself that he wasn't worthy of a second chance. But, everyday he showed her differently.

While she was staring blankly at her television, her phone vibrated- snapping her out of her thoughts. She immediately pulled the cover back and reached for her phone. It actually wasn't a call, it was a FaceTime. Her frown instantly faded when she saw his contact name on her screen.

Finally! She thought. He was calling later than he usually did but what mattered was that he didn't flake. His calls were consistent, and that's exactly what she needed and wanted from a man- especially [this man. She fronted like she didn't like him or the calls, and sometimes Jonathan believed it. Other times, he saw right through it. He felt like she was just conflicted and hesitant. He understood, and remained persistent.

"Do you know what time it is?" Dryly, Taylor answered Jonathan's FaceTime with an attitude.

"What are you doing?" Jonathan asked happily.

"Do you know what time it is?" She repeated sternly.

"Ten something." Jonathan chuckled. "What are you doing?"

"Sky diving, Carter." She replied sarcastically with an eye roll. "What do you think I'm doing?"

"I don't know what you're doing. I'm looking at a ceiling."

"Don't act like this ceiling doesn't look familiar to you." Jonathan had been in her bedroom before and she often times showed him the ceiling instead of her face whenever they FaceTimed.

Jonathan laughed. "I can barely see anything."

"So, what does that tell you at this hour?"

"Nothing." He answered, laughing.

"Ugh." She groaned, turning her phone to her face. The light from the television allowed Jonathan to see her a little bit. "I'm in the bed."

"Were you sleep?"

"I wouldn't have answered if I were sleep." She said propping her phone up against one of her many pillows.

"You look cute." Jonathan complimented with the happiest smile Taylor's ever seen. It warmed her heart and the pit of her stomach but she refused to allow him to know it.

She rolled her eyes again. "Kiss my ass."

"That's your third time telling me to kiss your ass. You must really want me to kiss your ass, huh?" Jonathan winked, licking his lips.

"You must really want me to kiss your ass." She mocked him, contorting her face. "Shut up! How can I help you?"

"You just told me to shut up."

"I'm going to hang up if you don't tell me why you FaceTimed me so late." Taylor asked. Her tone came of as it she meant why he was calling her at all, but Jonathan knew her. He knew that she was asking why he didn't call her earlier like he normally did.
