"Are you relaxed now?" Noelle asked Jonathan as she stood from her knees. She wiped her mouth and smirked at him.
Today was the day! The day that Jonathan put pride aside and go see his family. He meant it when he told his brother, Tristan, that he didn't care for those people, and he really didn't want to go. But what Noelle said was true and he felt the exact same. His daughters deserved to know and see the other side of their family. Their mother's side- that they knew of, was rather small. Jonathan wanted his girls interact with their cousins. They deserved all of the grandparents that God had blessed with them. And Granny, Jonathan made the decision to go to the other side of town to see her. It would make her life to see him and her great grandchildren.
Jonathan was nervous about seeing his family, but most importantly his parents. His appearance would be a surprise according to Tristan. He had no idea how his family would react to seeing him after nearly six years. He was unsure of his own reactions! He has yet to tell his daughter due to his nervousness.
"Hell yeah." Jonathan replied. "I needed that."
"That's why you have me." She said with a twinkle in her eyes.
"Thank you." He said sincerely.
"Are you sure that you don't want me to go with you?" Being that Noelle sort of convinced Jonathan to see his family, she offered to tag along for support. Jonathan politely declined her offer. Seeing his family was something that he needed to do by himself. He didn't feel it was really necessary that she go with him. He was going to see his family for the first time in six years, he felt bringing a woman along would be a bit much. Not only that but he felt bringing her to Thanksgiving dinner would give the wrong impression to her as well as his family. It seemed like things were becoming more than what they started out as. Noelle was a nice woman, a great friend, but he didn't see her as anything more than that. To him, she was a wonderful friend helped him with his children and had sex with occasionally.
"I'm sure. I'll be fine. I don't want to take you away from your family. Go ahead." Jonathan let her know that it was okay for her to head over to her family's house.
"Alright. Call me later?"
"Yeah. Thank you for braiding their hair."
"No problem." Noelle smiled then leaned down to kiss lips. Jonathan was reluctant about kissing her, but he did it anyway. When she was gone, he laid back on the bed. Only for a few minutes, he had to check on Serenity and Joy before taking a shower. He slowly opened the door, trying not to make any noise in fear of disturbing their nap. They were still sleeping close together in Serenity's bed. And their bonnets were still on their heads.
Jonathan gently closed the door and headed to the bathroom to take a shower. He knew exactly what he wanted to wear so it didn't take very long. When he was dressed and ready to go, he sat on the couch to watch TV to kill time. He had about an hour and thirty minutes before one of the girls woke up. And when they did, he planned to share the good news.
Jonathan knew that dinner wouldn't be ready when he arrived at his father's house, so he decided to make a sandwich to hold him over until then. While he was eating and watching a NFL game, he heard Serenity's footsteps. He looked up to see her walking towards him, rubbing her eyes.
"Daddy." Serenity called quietly.
"Yeah, baby? You have a good nap?" He asked happily.
"Mhm." She nodded her head. "Can I have some juice?"
"Is your mouth dry?"
"Yes."
"Then you can have water instead."
