When I got back I had thrown the photos I had grabbed on the floor. Gravity did its job in scattering them out. I did not even know where to start, well that was a lie, I had mentioned a color pallet earlier and the boys liked my idea of playing with the gate and element ideas. Nothing I wrote down felt new, nothing felt good enough for Greta Van Fleet.
It must have been fate because right as I felt tears well up in my eyes again my phone started to ring. It was Angie.
"Hey I was actually going to call you later tonight" I said trying to make my voice sound steady.
"I was calling to let you know we lost another stuffed animal to the beast that is Frank but girl what is wrong? I know you cry at everything but you are trying to hide it from me, that means it is a big deal." Is this what I get for living with the same person for four years, someone who can see into my soul.
"It is just a lot of stress and now I have to think of an idea for basically this whole thing and I do not want to let anyone down and-"
"Are you on the floor" Angie cut me off.
"Yes"
"Ok stand up, walk around even if it is just around that beautiful fuckin apartment... Jesus Christ how did you- I am getting distracted this is not about the room. You told me she had art every where just take that stuff in. You are too sucked into one thought area right now. Just talk to me."
I did as she instructed and pulled myself off the floor. Slowly stacking each limb ontop of the next as I pulled myself around the room. I stalked over the to built in bookshelves around the tv. "Angie you know how I love coffee table art books?" Angie did not answer, she knew I already knew the answer. "I am not to this level yet" I said as I flipped my camera to show her the wall filled with books.
"Yeah the four on our table is enough for right now" Angie joked. "Actually I was looking through the Turrell one today and I think we should try to re-create one of his lights for our living room."
"Can we drill a hole in our ceiling to make our own skyscape?" I knew she meant his light art that people like Kendal Jenner had but his skyscapes so powerful to me.
"I mean if you wanna pay for that safety deposit then go ahead but the whole has to go through your room, not mine."
"Oh my god look she owns the same book" I say as I pull it from the shelf and flip through the pages.
"I will admit I want to go to his volcano thingy so bad. Whenever they open it we gotta go, I do not care how long it takes for us to find it in the desert." Angie had never agreed to venture to one of his pieces before so this was shocking.
"The roden crater looks ethereal dude. That is what I imagine the gates of heaven look like with his use of golds and dramatic hallways..." I say trailing off.
"Ooooooo I know that look you just had something click" Angie said as she got really close to the camera. I did not respond to Angie I was already Dashing towards my door. "Um girly where are we going because don't forget I am here."
"I have to tell the boys and Kenzi, this is... this is the idea" I say as I step into the elevator and go down two floors.
"Molly I am still here" Angie said loudly through my phone as I rapidly knocked on the door. A few seconds later Jake came to answer and I pushed my past him. Payback for yesterday I guess in a way but I was too excited apologize. As I walked into the living room where everybody else sat, they all looked to me shocked to see me.
"I got it! I got the idea" was all I could say. An excited silence fell over the group.
"Hi I am Angie" she said through the phone that was facing the group, cutting the silence.
For the next hour I sat on the floor next to the coffee table explaining my idea. Kenzi had grabbed her laptop for me so I showed them videos of Turrell's Roden Crater. I expressed how the start of the video could be them searching in this desert for this holy place, nirvana until the change in tone. Then we are plunged into this oasis below with long dimly light shaped hallways that lead to this other worldly portal at the end wrapped in the warmth of gold. Every boy having a differently shaped hallway, Jake had added the hallways could reflect his keys. I actually liked the idea. Insert shots of the sky from the point of view from the portal could be placed through out. They loved the idea and Kenzi sketch out ideas for the outfits as I spoke.
"I think you have us on board but you still have to run it by the big guy" Danny said leaning back into the couch.
"We will help you make a presentation so good he can not say no" Josh screamed as he joined me on the floor. "And if he dare utter the word then we will fight for you." His words made me blush.
"You have all given lots of input but leave the presentation to the pros" Kenzi said as she got off the couch. "Let us head up to your place and we can put this together."
Within a few hours we had drawn up sketches for our idea and placed them out in a coherent way. I was confident my idea was good and knew I had the presentation down but I just hoped it was something the director would like.

When it came time to share my idea it was just the set designer, Kenzi, the director and I in the room. I really wished the boys were in here for support. The set designer gave me a look that let me know they wanted me to succeed but was nervous. Kenzi on the other hand was all smiles as she knew what was about to be shown. My eyes landed on the director and I took a deep breath in before starting.
12 minutes had flown by as I talked about my idea and our designs. Once I had finished a silence fell over the room. "I gave you a hard task" the director said as he broke the tension. "I would say you did not rise to the situation... but rose past it." My shoulders relaxed a bit as he smiled at me pleased with my work. "Now we run it past the band and-"
"We love the idea! We were listing behind the door" Josh burst into the room.
"Yeah the idea is amazing" Sam added in.
"The key part is so cool" Jake said which made me chuckle.
"I think it will look amazing" Danny finished as they had all now stepped into the room.
"Then it is settled, this is our idea. I would like finalized sketches from the three of you by the end of the day so that we can make buy lists and work out labor needs tomorrow." And with that the director had slipped out of the room.
Josh ran to me and swooped me into a big hug. "I knew you could do it, that was amazing." Our hug lingered. When I opened my eyes everyone was looking at us.
"Well we should get back to the studio" Danny said as he planted a kiss on Kenzi's head. Jake pulled Josh by the shoulder out of the room and Sam followed behind. "Great job Molly" Danny added as he closed the door behind them.
"Honestly, it is an amazing idea, this is going to look amazing" the set designer said as he pulled out his sketch pad to begin working.
