Isn't she Lovely

I woke up to find myself in bed with Barry and Frank curled up by my side. Looking over to the clock I saw that it is way later than I had been waking up lately.

We were cleared to go home from the hospital three days after the twin's births and ever since we had been home Josh and I have practically lived in bed with the kids. It was indescribable how grateful we were that both babies were able to come home at the same time. Josh had also been very hands on and attentive to me for the past two days always making sure I was ok. He even held onto me when I walked around the room bouncing the babies even though I felt perfectly fine, well fine for having given birth not even a week ago.

I made my way down the stairs on a mission to look for the other beings I was so accused to waking up next to at this point. There was no sign of life in the kitchen and living room area so I opened the door to the basement studio.

Josh was too busy at the piano to notice I had entered the space as he played the keys and sang Isn't She Lovely to the tiny beings that lied next to each other in a bassinet. I stood at the edge of the stairs and took in the scene, feeling tears start to well up in my eyes. The hormones did not help my already crying prone nature. As the song was coming to an end, I made my way cross the room and wrapped my arms around Josh from behind.

"Hey mama, how did you sleep" he asked bringing his fingers from the piano to rest on my arms that were loose around his neck. I simply shook my head up and down in response to his question which made his smile grow before he gave me a quick peck on the cheek. "They were fussy this morning and you were finally sleeping so we ventured down here after I got them fed" Josh continued, now both of us looking over to the twins sleeping peacefully.

"Look at them" I said quietly in Josh's ear, "I would be fast asleep too after listening to you sing."

Josh gave me a smirk. "Are you calling me boring" Josh joked as he pulled me from behind him to sit next to him on the bench. He began to play again and I knew the song instantly, "sing with me."

I shook my head yes with a small laugh sand along with Josh as he played the sweet melody to Annie's Song. As we did this Jessie stirred in the cot and tried to cry out so I bent over and picked her up. Once she was in my arms, she settled back down and I took my free hand and traced over Annie's stomach that was rising and falling soundly.

A soft knock came from the doorway behind us as we stopped singing and I turned around to see the boys watching us. "Sorry for the intrusion" Jake said making his way over to us "we thought we would stop by since we have not seen you guys for a few days."

Jita and Jake had visited us right when we got home from the hospital and brought us some food and to make sure we had everything situated. Luckily Josh and I had done majority of the set up before the twins early arrival.

"They already look bigger than when they were at the hospital" Danny said smiling at me.

"How are the dogs fairing with all this, are they jealous with all the attention not being on them" Sam questioned in a very serious manner.

Josh got up with a laugh. "The dogs love 'em and are perfectly content sleeping their days away on the couch like they did before" he explained hugging his brothers.

"So are they tiny humans yet? What personalities do they have" Jake asked as he sat next to me on the bench.

"Well Jessie here is just like her old man" Josh said as I placed her into Jake's arms, "She is the leader ya know beening the older one."

I looked up at Jake who rolled his eyes. I knew he wanted to give his brother a sarcastic response but ended up not doing it. "Well I would agree, Jessie is a lot like Josh. You know, messier, fussier, pickier" I said laughing and looking up to Josh.
