Starry Starry Night

"Molly I am sad that you are leaving us today. What are we gonna do without our guide and translator" Sam asked as the guys and I sat down for breakfast. After Angie had left we all caught a train headed south and spent the last few days exploring Munich. We went to a ton of art museums and last night the guys drank me under the table with the big steins of beer at the world famous beer house.

"What are you going on about" I asked Sam as I peeled my hard boiled egg.

He did not respond to me but instead looked over to Josh who was giving him a death glare. Sam's face changed and I knew that he had let something slip he was not supposed to.

"Spill it babe, what surprise did you plan this time" I said knowing Josh had a flare for springing last minute plans on me. They were always fun but one day he was gonna give me a heart attack.

"I might have rented a car for us so we can drive into the mountains for a few days" Josh said nonchalantly while shoving waffle into his mouth.

"I take it that is all the information I am gonna get" I said leaning into Josh's side.

"Precisely" he mumbled through a full mouth to which I laughed and continued eating my meal.

The rest of breakfast the guys asked me for suggestions on things too do and I made sure they knew a few phrases to get them around. Josh had run up to our room and grabbed our bags while Sam joined him to get the dogs. As we walked outside to the car Josh had rented, my jaw dropped.

"You did not" I screamed running up to a red VW Bus that was parked outside. "Joshua this is a joke, you are fucking with me" I said turning to Josh who opened the doors to the back of the van.

"Nope not a joke. I mean, where better to drive around in this thing than Germany... and I also know it happens to be your favorite car of all time. Figured I would turn your years of dreaming about one into a reality. Plus, it I only a few days so I don't want your con list of having one, no mention of gas prices or exhaust, deal" Josh asked placing our bags on the floor of the car and lifting the dogs on to the seats which already had their dog seatbelts attached.

I was still too stunned to speak so I shook my hard yes as I looked inside. The bus had a bed in the back of it and a bench that ran along the side of the car opposite a counter with storage. It had brown shag carpet and the chairs were upholstered with a yellowish brown tweed. "Far out" I said looking to Josh before giving him a kiss.

"This is just the start baby. Come on we have about a 2 hour drive ahead of us" Josh said wiggling his eyebrows at me as he closed the doors and opened the passenger side.

I did as I was instructed and I yelled my goodbyes to the others while Josh hurried to the driver's seat and started to car. Before pulling away Josh loaded a CD into the dash allowing Don Mclean to pour out of the speakers. I rolled down the window to let the sunshine warm me up while waving goodbye one last time to the boys as we started down the road.

The drive was relaxing as I pulled my knees up to my chest and leaned my head against the side of the car which allowed the wind to touch my face. One of my hands reached out the open window and danced along to the rhythm of the music. When Vincent came on I sang along softly to the lyrics while Josh's hand came to rest on my leg.

I must have dozed off for a while because when I awoke the scenery had changed around us. Looking over to my driver I saw Josh's smile go wide as he saw I was now awake. "Glad to see someone is up" he said squeezing my leg.

"Were you watching me sleep" I asked in a teasing way as I took my hand to rest on his cheek.

"I love how peaceful you look when you fall asleep but I did miss you singing along to the songs" he said leaning into my touch before giving my palm a kiss and returning his attention back to the road.
