My week flew by and it was one of the best weeks of my life. Kenzi and I worked in Manuel's shop for three days which was so cool. I learned so much and to be able to learn techniques with the proper equipment was life hanging. He was also one of the sweetest people ever to work with, calm and supportive but still expected great work.
Thursday Kenzi and I did fittings for the boys and then final approvals from the director. Thank god he loved what we had made and we got extra brownie points that we did it a day early. Jake had the best outfit in my opinion but that is probably because I am a sucker for a good hat and this black embroidered one Manuel made was gorgeous.
It was now Friday and Kenzi and I were just going to be working on some small details and make sure everything was working well with lights for when the costumes would be on set. The boys had promised us they would work really hard so that they could leave as soon as possible. Kenzi said I would be getting to meet some fun people tonight for dinner but of course I was once again being told little details.
"Ok we have been cleared for the day do you wanna go sit in and watch he boys" Kenzi asked closing my laptop.
"Do I have a choice" I ask moving my now closed laptop to my bag.
"Nope now lets go" she said grabbing my hand and pulling me down the hallway.
Once we were in the studio we sat down on the couch behind the board and watch he boys rehearse. They were in the middle of a song so Josh had his eye closed in concentration. It was so cute how he used his hands while he sang, very musical theatre of him. I got lost in his voice has he hit his high notes and when he opened his eyes they fell on mine. I was startled a bit because I was so focused in the moment. A smile crept across Josh's face as he noticed it was me.
"Hey man can we show the girls what we were working on today?" Josh asked into the mic.
"Go ahead guys" the board operator said as he changed the controls on the board.
Sam moved to the piano and started to play as Josh tapped his foot. I knew the song instantly as they played one of my favorite songs, Beth by Kiss. It was beautiful how they made it their own as Danny joined in on drums and Jake strummed on guitar. The beauty seemed to leave though as my mind soaked in the lyrics. They had always made me sad but now they felt too real. Never had I though I would have related to Beth this much. I could feel tears well up as the boys ended the song and Josh bounded his way through the recording door and to the couch.
"Well what did you think" he asked gleaming and plopping down next to me.
"It was amazing, look you made me cry, I told you that you made people cry" I laughed out trying to hold back my tears.
"I am glad you enjoyed it" Josh said as he pulled me up onto his lap on the couch. I was not sure if this was breaking our work boundary but I liked it too much to bring it up.
"I actually enjoyed that even though we don't do glam rock often" Jake said as him and the other boys entered to join us.
"Kiss is not glam rock, Motley Crue is glam rock, just don't tell Mick Mars I said that" I joke as I lean back against a slightly sweaty Josh.
"I promise I won't the next time we get drinks" Jake smirked back at me.
"I know that is a joke but don't get my hopes up Kiszka." I throw a small towel that was on the couch at him.
"Well we are done for the day if you guys are ready to head to dinner." Danny said to us.
"I am so excited for you to meet Joy" Sam said to me.
