As we walked into the bar I saw Sam and Danny who had made themselves comfortable in a corner booth that faced the stage. Jake headed to the bar straight away and ordered a round of beers and a few appetizers for the table. Josh and I headed to the corner to greet the friends who were too into their conversation to notice us arrive.
"Well hello there beautiful boys" I said as I slide in next to Danny and threw my arm around him.
"Molly live and in person" he said as he hugged me back.
"And how are you two" I asked as I let go of Danny and leaned over him to hug Sam.
"Better now that you are here" Sam said with a smile as he let go of our quick hug.
Jake had returned to our table helping one of the employee's carry over the beers.
"We leave you alone for a couple minutes and you have already started a new job" Josh joked as Jake slid in next to Sam.
"Yeah I am leaving the rockstar life behind me" Jake said as he smiled and nodded at Sam and Danny.
I grabbed a beer and leaned into Josh's side as he put and arm around me. "So what song are you singing Molly" Sam asked as he took a beer from Jake.
"I have a suggestion" Josh said as he looked to me.
"Oh yeah what is it" I questioned with my eyebrows raised.
"Well I feel a Dolly song is only natural since you know her whole discography... what about Blue Smoke" Josh said pulling me back into his side. It was song a had sung so many times when we FaceTimed each other but I had never sung it in a real sense, just always a silly way.
"I will but only if y'all do a song too... Jake I think you need a Hank Williams Jr song. You know 'A Country Boy Can Survive' because I think it could be fun" I said shooting Jake a fun look.
"I think Molly should pick all of our songs out since she seems to know so much about country" Danny said laughing.
"Actually that is fun, I mean fuck it right, it is karaoke, it is all for fun. Molly pick out a song for each of us and it will be at least our first song we sing up there" Sam said as he downed his beer. I could tell that this was not his beer of the night.
"That is chaotic and I love it" I said back. "Ok let me think if Jake is doing Hank Jr, Danny I think you can pull of 'American Remains' by the Highwaymen."
Danny choked on his beer. "You think I can pull off a song song by people like Cash and Nelson" he said pointing to himself.
"Dan you totally got it beside I want to hear what Molly suggests for me" Sam butted in.
I sat and scratched my chin while I thought of songs. "The Gambler" I finally said pointing to Sam.
"Amazing choice, what a great bar song" Sam said raising his hands in the air.
"And for you" I said turning to Josh, "I want you to be a rhinestone cowboy." I poked his chest and saw him smile and roll his eyes.
"Josh you have to do as Molly says we already set the rules" Sam said pulling us from our small moment.
"If you are so eager, you go first then Sam" Dan said with a chuckle.
"Done and done" Sam said before finishing his beer and climbing over Jake to head up to the dj next to the stage.
The intoxicate Sam got up there and sang his heart out to the song I had picked for him. He was having so much fun as the other people in the bar cheered him on and sang along. I sang the lyrics too, a little louder than I probably should have, as we all drank and watched Sam dance around. As Sam got off the stage I got up and made my way to where he just was. The beer had given me a slight confidence boost to go next and I ran with it. I asked for the song Josh had suggested and did my best to follow the act that was Sam.
