I'm changing POV's. Still third person POV but it would cover certain characters' thoughts.

Still inspired by LDR. ❤️
You guys deserve a quick update so here it is :)
Oh, I have an upcoming story, "Protecting Charity". I wrote it before as a romance/fantasy story with unique characters however, I've decided to do otherwise as I post it. It's going to be a Zayn Malik fanfic because I wanted to do something that is still related to him because I'm gonna miss him as the boys continue on as 1D without him.

By the way, this is the second half of "Her Assistant"
New characters in future chapters.

"Sober"
18th Month of Sobriety.
Two and a half years after Phil.

The rain poured in New York City. Raindrops freely fell on her face, flowing from her forehead, down to her lips. The feel of liberation from the ghosts of her terrible past finally came into her. She opened her hand and saw the coin that represented her eighteenth month of sobriety from drugs. Proudly, she smiled as she gazed at the silver coin on her palm.

That moment made her heart warm and turn into cold as ice regarding a particular aspect of her life. I will no longer be a sucker for love, she thought. Then she glanced up, and in front of her was the tower of Pike Industries. That very building that stood tall and stark in the city represented power and glory.

Power and glory. Something she suddenly wanted because she had come to realize to love herself, and only herself. She spent too much time loving others and her affection are reciprocated with otherwise. Caring about others would absolutely be the last thing on her mind, after the people she loved just let her off the wind without begging her to stay or feel pain at least.

A new dream rose from her soul, she'd rise to power as others will soon be dying jealous as hell. Those who made her miserable and live in fear will be afraid of her, threatened by her.

Her first day in Columbia University will start the following day, all expenses sponsored by Jesse. He planned to have Chloe as his successor, he needed someone as strong as her. He placed his faith that Chloe would continue the legacy their grandfather has started. Chloe's persistence placed him in comfort that someday she'd be better than him. Seeing Chloe gave him a vision of a better future for Pike Industries.

Jesse never knew what broke Chloe and bring her into the 'soothing' comfort of drugs, he decided to give her a second chance nonetheless. "Everyone deserves a second chance."

Everyone deserves a second chance...
Jesse's words echoed in Chloe's mind.

Chloe gazed at the New York horizon at the rooftop of Pike Industries building. Below her was where she once stood when the rain caught her, when she formulated a new dream, to be powerful. And she now is. A pack of cigarettes by the ledge caught her eye and she wondered who was there, but did no longer care about the stranger who left his pack there. She had the whole place by herself, with no one to disturb her as she placed the cigarette in between her cherry-tinted lips. Reluctance stopped her from lighting her cigarette because she hasn't smoked since the day she entered rehab. The soft cylinder was tempting when it touched her lips. It elicited a scent she missed, it was the smell of comfort. Come on, just one cigarette, and you're done with it forever, a part of her urged. She's going to meet the board today and have a brief meeting with them to discuss their agendas, and this time news has probably reached the board.

Anxiety was starting to consume her because she really felt pressured. Unconsciously, she lit the cigarette with a lighter. She immediately sucked the cigarette's essence, feeling satisfied as she closed her eyes then exhaled. She took the cigarette from her lips and stared at it, smiling. Life's simple joys, she thought, thankful for the cigarette at the moment. She did not care if it was unlady-like or bad for her health.
