This is the first chapter of a new arc. I've been pretty busy with work lately by the way.
Thank you for waiting. :)
December 2018.
Dmitri woke up in the middle of the night to the worst phone call of his life. His heart raced, his mind was beyond boggled as he refused to believe what he heard on the phone. He couldn't recall how he got to the hospital as he was led by a nurse towards the emergency room.
"Is she okay?" He tearfully asked and the nurse handed him a bag with all of his fiancées belongings stained with her blood. The engagement ring was drenched in blood and he glanced at the window that there were several staff trying to revive her.
What if I lose her? His thoughts started as his heart ached more and more as another second passed.
Not like this, he refused to believe the possibility of her death. No, no, no.
He never felt so helpless before. He began to pray to every god there is so that she could live. Waking up next to her for the rest of his life was all he had hoped for. What if she's gone?
That morning, they still had breakfast together. He felt her love one year after she returned and she was so sure of him. He had her 100 percent. Nothing could change her mind because they planned everything together.
Their wedding is on New Year's Eve, everything was supposed to go perfectly the way they planned it. However, three days before their wedding, Chloe Pike got into an accident.
The CEO's life is hanging by a thread so as Dmitri's future with her. He loved her so much his life would be meaningless if she passes. She was his everything.
Four hours earlier.
"Yes, love. I will be home, I promise. We have a rehearsal dinner tomorrow and I didn't forget," Chloe said to Dmitri over the phone. She breathed and poured her glass some vodka. Before she goes home, she spends an hour in her office just to clear her head with alcohol and deafening silence.
In a few days, she will be Dmitri's wife. It's been years since she heard from Phil. She wondered how her child has grown. She's probably the most beautiful little princess she will ever see.
Will she still Celestia before she dies? Chloe has a brain tumor that she refused to have removed since she wanted to live the rest of her days like an average person. Dmitri couldn't convince her to have an operation so far. Slowly, her vision deteriorated, she experienced frequent headaches, but she kept her pain to herself.
Dmitri has worried way too much and she told him that she wouldn't take the 20% of survival when she undergoes surgery.
It disappointed her loved ones of course, however, she was firm and so sure that she will spend her days with Dmitri as it will end her suffering at a faster pace and keep her true family, Phil and Celestia, safe from Jesse.
Someone was knocking on her door.
"Come in," she spoke.
Penelope, her new assistant, entered. She's still in her early twenties, fresh out of college. Working for Chloe has been her dream as Chloe has been featured by the media for the outstanding leadership during the last two years. "You have a scheduled meeting at 8 am tomorrow with your coordinators and—"
"I wish I have a choice to cancel them," Chloe sniggered. "Would you like a drink?"
Penelope was hesitant as she has never seen Chloe under the influence of alcohol. Judging by the bottle's contents, she may have drank a lot already.
