~Extended Summary~

Have you experienced being in love with someone you know who will never love you back? Chloe Pike had this feeling but she metaphorically defined love to be some sort of gamble - you give out everything you have knowing that you have a 50/50 chance of winning and losing.

Seven years ago, when she was a freshman in college, a handsome senior named Philip Connor, caught her eyes and made her panties fall on the ground (not literally). He has a pair of crystal blue eyes, an impeccable smile, chestnut brown hair, and his jaw line that is perfect. He has a strong muscular body, and he stood at six feet in height. In short, he is beautiful as if he is bathed with Adonis' soul, he's everything Chloe ever wanted. Phil is an arrogant, self-glorifying senior, however, Chloe doesn't mind since she always yearned for a bad boy as a boyfriend and she swore she's going to marry this guy and have his babies.

On the other hand, upon meeting Chloe, Phil didn't like her. Totally. He hated the way she dresses, the way she acts, and when she's following him, it's simply annoying to him. She is absolutely not his type. He tried to confront her but he couldn't, knowing that he is, too, attracted to her in some way unimaginable.

Until one incident led them to be together under the same roof. Something intimate happened between the two of them and Philip had to admit that it was the best night of his life. After Philip took Chloe's virginity, he left her in the morning before she woke up. Chloe thought that he had some other matters to and waited for his call. She became worried when he wouldn't answer her. She went to him with a smile on her face, and before she could utter a word, he said, "F*ck off. I don't want to see you, I don't know you. Just please, f*ck off." His friends heard this and they laughed as if Chloe is the most shameful thing that existed in this planet. She lost the game, the gamble.

Seven years later, twenty-four year old Chloe was near on reaching the peak of her career after being tasked by her wealthy older cousin, Jesse, to be in charge of the multi-billion dollar company he owned as he is about to begin his battle with cancer. Jesse then hired Philip Connor, without knowing about Chloe's history with Philip, to be her advisor, consultant - her assistant.
