Happy New Year!

-

"With all due respect, Chloe, that would be unnecessary," Mr. Gustave, one of the vice presidents spoke. "We have to offer them $200 million for that. Or else they will find someone else." It was like a trail of never ending humiliation for the acting and future CEO of the company.

Chloe usually talked calmly to the board and demands gently. But this time, she snapped, "We're sticking to $150 million, we do not owe them. They need us."

"Miss Pike, this is an important step for the company." Another one spoke.

She sardonically spoke, "Yeah, you're all right. We should spend an extra fifty million for a third party producer whose quality is shit."

She proposed that they create their own line instead of relying to somebody else who will tag along with their company's name, but yet again, she's being humiliated by the board for the fifth time this week.

She told Kylie to turn off the projector, "Since my proposals are unnecessary, I'll just sit here and listen to you waste our money for this." It became silent for a few seconds.

But majority of the board decided to push through their plans while some agreed to what Chloe said.

Jesse decided to call Chloe via Skype because he saw her online and he's surprised to see her still in the office at 9 pm, New York time. "Hey princess, how are you?"

"I refuse to answer how I am, Jesse," Chloe said, groaning. "I'm still working."

"On what?"

Phil wanted to talk to her badly. He was glancing at Jesse's phone screen to see Chloe who was obviously tired.

"I gotta read all of the papers on your table and sign them on your behalf. I also have to review the conditions set."

"Well, you'll have to fill in for me until next week."

Phil's eyes widened in shock because he's expecting that they'll be back the day after this for Chloe's birthday.

"Alright, noted," she responded like she had no choice.

"Have you seen the video of Phil I sent you?" Jesse chuckled. "The stripper broke–"

"Look, Jesse. I'm not in the mood to do anything about it or even laugh," she said, rolling her eyes. Phil could've pushed the stripper away from him instead of enjoying the free lap dance, she thought. "I have to finish these Jess, the board is pressuring me."

"Get some sleep, will you?"

"Yeah yeah, goodbye." She hung up, pissed at Jesse, and pissed at Phil.

Phil planned to protest to Jesse's decision to stay for another week in Canada. "Sir, it's Chloe's birthday on the 21st."

"I already have a gift for her, remind Matthew to deliver it to her on that day," was Jesse's reply, drinking his coffee.

A part of Phil yearned to punch his boss for his response. He's hoping that Jesse will change his mind so they could go back to New York. "Would that be all for tonight?"
