Let me explain my sudden absence for six months.

I tried. I really did to write for you guys and for my own sanity. Unfortunately, this semester broke every aspect of my life. I was hospitalized twice and gladly, I made it through the obstacles with one just one leg broken (not literally).

I hope you still enjoy this. I'm on vacation, and I'll write as much as I could.

Hopefully by 2016, I'll rewrite "Her Assistant" to fix any loopholes or shit plots after I'm done.

Love you all,
C.

She's glad that she's in New York again. The noise of the busy people, the iconic skyscrapers, and of course, her apartment that's been recently visited by Melissa, the maid she hired twice a week to clean her place. The smell of strawberries and roses lingered in her nose, making her feel at home.

She threw herself on the bed, enjoying the fresh powder blue sheets and the soft pillows like it's her little heaven on earth. She freed her feet by kicking her Jimmy Choo heels and it untidily landed on the floor. It's been a while since she enjoyed her bed because she never had any time to appreciate the small things in her life due to her mind's been occupied by work and other important things.

Her eyes shifted towards her left hand, imagining what it's like to actually have the ring embracing her finger. Chloe Connor, she thought. It sounds nice but... Her smile immediately turned into a frown as it was spoiled by an unwanted thought.

Not now.

It's been two days since I last saw him but it felt like an eternity.

Phil was definitely hopeful that she'd give him an answer that would be pleasing to his ears. He then questioned himself why he would do something rash, like ask her to marry him. But it didn't matter anymore, this is their moment that will define the future ahead of them.

Chloe, knew clearly in her heart that she wants to have his babies and be his wife that second. My responsibilities will only take you away from me. She had to be sure why he's doing this. "We talked about the things I have to do."

He looked down in embarrassment. His heart sank. Deep inside, he has always been afraid. He then sighed as he stood up, the ring was enclosed in his fist. He realized that he wasn't fully prepared to a different answer except 'yes'. Perhaps it is an initial reaction if someone rejects you, however, he failed to conceal his dismay.

"Why, Phil?" She asked gently, the wind was softly whispering as the waves ravaged, these were the only sounds she heard as she waited for him to answer.

"I don't know if I'll be able to forgive myself if I lose you again," he spoke, finally meeting her eyes. "Since Jesse told me about you becoming the CEO, I knew that the chances of losing you is high. In two weeks, you will be and where do I go once you're standing on your feet? You said I can leave anytime after you've fully adjusted with your job, then we could be like the couple that we should've been seven years ago. You wouldn't be around anymore because you'll travel a lot, come home very tired and that's when we will start growing apart. If ever that happens, you saying 'yes' right now will be something we will hold on to for the next five years. It is a constant reminder that you said 'yes' because we have a promise to each other."

And she will never forget that last night.

Someday, she breathed, then held the necklace she's wearing where the ring was hanging. She sat up from her bed removing it from her neck, and she raised it and watched as the ring fell down on her palm. It is an exquisite beauty full of promises. She wore it to her ring finger and smiled on how perfect it appeared.
