"Jesse's here." Phil told Chloe after abruptly closing the door then walked towards her dresser where she's currently applying her lipstick delicately. He could just go out and declare his love for Chloe to the current CEO, Jesse Pike. It is unwise and unprofessional, he knew clearly.

Her lipstick swerved to her cheek when she heard it. "What? Did he see you? Oh my God. What if he did?" Her eyes eyes widened and she started to panic a little.

Phil shook his head, wanting to know Chloe's move and secretly hoping that Jesse didn't see him.

Jesse spoke, "Chloe, are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'll be out in a minute!" Chloe spoke loudly and casually without a hint of nervousness. She whispered to Phil, "Stay here, don't make any unnecessary or rash actions. Okay?"

Jesse was still suspicious to why Chloe just closed the door when she saw him. The door in her bedroom is always open when she's alone or even when Melissa's cleaning her place. Maybe she's not yet dressed for work and hasn't even taken a shower yet. It happened numerous times before. So he tried to open the door to check, and this prompted Chloe to push Phil inside the bathroom and shut the door immediately.

"God, Jesse! What are you doing here?" She said madly enough to convince that she's pissed.

"I thought you aren't ready for work again. Also, you rarely close doors, and you dress up in your spacious closet. I still don't get why you ladies need to have a room full of clothes," Jesse replied and his suspicion grew more when she's already dressed and ready to go, except for the stain on her cheek; so he teased in a serious tone. "Were you hiding something from me? Or someone?"

Oh my God, he knows... Chloe wrongfully thought for a second. Of course, he doesn't, how would he know? Phil and I are careful whenever we meet. "What?" She nervously laughed. "If I'm hiding someone, you will know."

"Maybe he's in the bathroom." Jesse took a few more steps and he's near to the bathroom door. Where on the other side, Phil sprained his elbow after tripping on the slippery floor after Chloe pushed him. He was silently cursing in pain but he suppressed every sound of agony.

"He?" She repeated as if she was mocking him.

"Yeah." Jesse carefully watched Chloe's reaction as he's about to reach the doorknob.

"Fine, check if I'm hiding someone. It is not the best time to open my bathroom because the shower drain smelled like shit. I know you hate it more than I do," Chloe said matter of factly, while she sat on her dresser, pulling some wipes and proceeded to remove the stain on her cheek. She hoped that Jesse wouldn't see through her bluff.

"I don't smell anything."

"It's because I sprayed two cans of aerosol in the bathroom and it still reeked if you go inside."

"Did you call the building manager?"

"I haven't."

"I'm glad you're not wasted or sleeping around with random guys you met at the bar."

"Yay for me!" Chloe faced him, smiling gleefully. "How's California?"

"Good. It's great to be back, it feels better to be here."

"You missed working, don't you?"

"Yes, I do. That is why I'm going to hang for another month or two here and do what I like."

"How about the treatment?"

Jesse crossed his arms and smiled, "I seriously don't want to lose my hair. Also, I read this story online, it's about an old lady who lived with cancer for like, more than twenty years. She's been diagnosed with a very bad one, but then, she refused to take any form of medication and continued on with her life. I prefer that. I don't want to die in pain."
