[THIS CHAPTER is short, I'm sorry. Pardon me for errors, I haven't proofread this yet.]

      Never deny Chloe's ridiculous requests.

Three days ago, he received an important call from Jesse Pike. That was the call that will give him an opportunity to live in New York again. He expected that he will serve a sexy vixen, a woman whose hair is like a waterfall of melted gold. A tall model is what he pictured in his mind. [because Jesse is blonde, so he assumed that his future boss is blonde too.] But no, it was a short brunette who stood at 5’1”, and a girl he never thought he would love so much that lead him to think that she doesn’t deserve a rotten perverted bastard like him. When the first time she saw her, she dressed like a commoner, no more like a ten year old boy, but looking at her after seven years, she is now the most beautiful woman he had seen. He expected that he would be able to explain his sudden coldness to her once they’re alone but he was ordered to do something he had never done in his life before.

And now, on a Saturday afternoon, he’s heading to a restaurant just to get a cheese-less cheeseburger. He stole a cab from an old woman, he had to run the last block because the cab he was riding got into trouble with another cabbie, he got the burger after arguing vociferously with the waitress, but arrived back to Chloe’s new office thirty minutes later.

“Sorry,” he apologized, catching his breath when he entered. Chloe was on her seat, smirking at him. He thought that she’s going to understand how ridiculous her request was. He explained, “Stupid New York  cabs they were –“

“There’s a trash bin to your left, put the bag there, I lost my appetite.” she pointed.

“What?” He exclaimed, walking up to her but she raised her eyebrow and said, “Three feet… I don’t like men with foul smell near me.” He wanted to grab her right there but he couldn’t, and he shouldn’t. And he didn’t smell badly, he wore his cologne that made women open their legs for him. He knew that he always had that incredible sexy scent even when he's sweaty.

“Nothing personal, Mr. Connor, I just lost my appetite seeing how greasy the bag is,” she rolled her eyes then stood up, and took a folder from the bookshelf as he threw the burger in the bin whilst his eyes are locked on her. She almost gave him a boner when he saw her cleavage, now, her short skirt revealed her legs, which made him want to touch them as he imagine himself planting kisses on her bare body.

She strode to him and handed him the folder, “While you were out, I’m done reviewing Mr. Harper’s proposals, I reject them all.”

“I haven’t read these, so you can’t reject these yet,” he said, turning his gaze to the folder as he opened to scan through the files given to him.

She smiled, “Very good Mr. Connor, you’re not stupid enough to follow everything I say.”

He smirked, “That’s why your cousin hired me. He said that your judgment is clouded, if you don’t like the person, you fire them.”

“I don't like you, thirteen,” she said proudly. Even when she's annoyed, she's stunning.

He smiled then said, "Oh really?"

"What's with the cocky smile, thirteen?" She crossed her arms like a little brat she has always been. Her brows furrowed in curiosity and the way she leaned on one leg revealed her fine curves that he only saw once since she was fond of wearing loose shirts.

"People like me!" He mused, "You like me." He wanted to annoy her for making him do an obnoxious task but  he later regret saying that...

"I liked you, but you're an asshole, asshole," her little Asian eyes narrowed. He can see a tint of red rushing on her cheeks which made her more attractive to him. "Don't you even think that it will be the same."

"You will like me again," Phil decided to annoy her because he silently hoped that it will conceal the fact he felt hurt with her words. He wanted her to know that he can get any girl he wants even though he has changed already. He also wanted her to know that he is capable of making the company better with his efforts.

"Don't try me Phil, once is enough," she looked at him intensely. Again, that aroused him. "Let me set things straight, we will never ever get involved personally... You know, let's just be two professional adults here. This is a work place, so if you are going to seduce me, you might as well write a resignation letter and I'd be more than glad to write you a check."

"Fine, Miss Pike, that would be acceptable, and I certainly don't have the intention on getting back with you on an intimate level. But I will make you like me so we'd have a harmonious work environment, I can work as hard as you can, I will be more than useful to you, I swear to God." He raised his right hand as he said those words to her. He watched her sit on her chair that swivels.

She nodded, biting her lower lip.
God, this girl is killing me. His pants felt tight.

"Start reviewing the proposals, clear my schedule this afternoon until tonight, I'd like to be alone. No one shall disturb me until tomorrow morning," she ordered then took her bag and stood up.

"Yes, Miss Pike." He agreed then watched her leave the room.

She was clearly bothered. She has changed. The perky, occasionally inappropriate, and joyous girl he knew was clearly gone. He missed the old Chloe, but he fell in love instantly with the new one; he's suddenly attracted to her in so many ways. He knew that she was his true love, everything that he has in Pennsylvania was suddenly rendered useless to him. He wanted to pursue her again despite her coldness and her harsh history in the office. She was reasonably unreasonable to her employees she fired, she doesn't go out partying like she used to, worse, she's unconsciously following the footsteps of Miranda Priestly.

He wanted to apologize to her for being a total dick after the best night he had. He waited for this moment but it was spoiled by the fact that Chloe went under a drastic change. From being a cutie to a gorgeous woman. But in the end, it's his fault. He cannot blame Chloe. He became confused after Chloe gave everything to him seven years ago.

He was her first, he was showered with her love during their college days. He didn't like the loud, strong-willed girl at first but she eventually made her way to his heart that made her irresistable. He can still recall those days she'd stay late at the university just to see him but she won't talk to him. But she became decided to pursue a guy who constantly flirts with women. He hurt her before but she worked her way to him. She took care of him when he was sick, he had no one around. When he was lonely, she'd  be  there to make him laugh. He once brushed her off and told her to stay away,  but he realized that his day won't be complete without seeing Chloe so he decided to ask her out for coffee. She agreed and it was a chance for him to know her better. He realized that she's beyond that humor of hers, that she's actually different from others. She's much more beautiful than the girls he previously dated/slept with. She's the most real and genuine person he met.

The night they both decided to be intimate was definitely the perfect moment he had with her. But before the sun rises, he felt that he never had a right to be with her. That he doesn't deserve her, that she deserved someone better.

He was still hoping that he'd have a chance with her again -- he's absolutely willing to give up everything he left behind in Jenkintown.

On his first day at work, he spent five hours working alone. The sun had set and it was still loud outside. He peered out the glass window and saw people heading out to go to clubbing tonight. He wondered where Chloe is. He intended on calling her but he knew that would be totally unwise. Where is she?
