While waiting for Chloe's surgery to finish, Dmitri became more anxious because there is a big chance Chloe might not survive and he just took precious time from her with her real family. Phil, on the other hand, was trying to digest everything he heard from Dmitri as he still distrusts the man who took away his girl from him.

"If she dies, this one is on you," Phil said.

Dmitri nodded, "I will never forgive myself if something happens to her." The greatest moments in his life were always with her. All he had was her during the difficult times and he couldn't bear losing her in an instant. Finding out about her illness broke him more than ever, it meant that all of his dreams would fade away once she succumbs to it.

Even though Chloe has been generally cold, Dmitri was the only person she was open to. She told him everything except for the time she disappeared for six months and that one thing that really bothered her for a long time. She became acquainted with Dmitri's demons as well and she did the best she could to be the best partner to him.

They both shared the same form of sadness not having a constant group of friends and family around. Their relationship was more like a support system, however, Chloe never felt complete as if everything with Dmitri is temporary. Their time together was just a way to get their heads off work. She never felt home with him. Dmitri tried to ignore that fact but he always hoped that Chloe would finally be contented.

"I'm wondering why you were so eager to buy the company from Jesse just to save Chloe. We both know that you could've acquired a much more valuable company with that kind of money," Phil spoke to break the silence.

Dmitri recalled one of the most invaluable memory he has of Chloe, "It's because I fell in love with her the first time I saw her. We were having a great time together when she was still starting with her career. We'd go on dates, be carefree because we hated our families. But I had to leave eventually and she thought it was best not to get serious because of our respective work commitments. The good things in my life happened with her and there's not a day I do not think about her since I laid my eyes on her."

It was Jesse's annual fundraiser, most of the businessmen involved with Pike Industries were gathered at a black-tie party he hosted at his penthouse. Rich people bragged about their shit as they sipped the finest champagne while Chloe stood beside Jesse, pretending to be interested as Pemberton discussed his plans for the next decade.

Dmitri could see how bored Chloe is and she reminded him of when his father would take him to galas or events to meet with Hunter's business partners. She looked stunning that night in her white long dress as if she's a goddess sent by heaven.

Chloe excused herself and headed to the hallway, Dmitri followed her. She still has a glass of champagne in her hand and she quickly drank all of it to calm her nerves because she hasn't gotten used to dealing with a lot of people.

"Hi," Dmitri greeted, trying to be cool despite being so nervous. He's not generally the anxious type around women.

"Hi," Chloe responded she was somehow surprised at the sight of a debonair man in front of her.

"Great party, huh?"

Chloe rolled her eyes, "I hated it, actually."

"Me too!" Dmitri chuckled. "I'm Dmitri." He held out his hand.

Chloe shook hands with him, "Chloe. Nice to meet you."

"It's my pleasure. I really meant this party sucks." Dmitri admitted.

"Do you wanna get out of here and get some real food to eat? I fucking hate Jesse's food choices when he has stupid parties like this."

"Shit, I've been dying to eat."
