J/Smoke/Ashen

Although the story is LONG finished, the characters live on (in a few different ways). This page is just gonna cover a few fun little details over things I wrote and/or had in mind when writing the MANY pages of this story.

. First off, although this is the first story I had ever completed, at the time, I had already been writing for at least about 4-5 years or so, I referenced this a lot in a few of my original notes that I added at the end of pages before I had started to rewrite and update the writings of the story

. The main character, Smoke is of course my main fursona, still using him today (however, at the time of writing this, he's currently on a break). Of course, with this being the case, a lot (if not All) of his character was or is based off of real events or feelings that I had/still have. These similarities between myself (J) and the grey wolf (Smoke) are as follows

-Smoke's original design (as he has currently undergone changes) was based on how I saw the basic design on wolves was, although his fur pattern is more akin to that of a fox.

-One example is a little dark, but I had actually put a blade over my chest and carved and X over my heart, however, instead of doing that at the early age of 10, that had really happened at about 15 or so, and the circumstances were very different

-Smoke's orphan story (if he can be considered an orphan with those circumstances) is based on the personal feelings I have had (and still somewhat have) about the disconnection between me and my family and how they had little to do with my life (however, with my current age, I understand a lot more and I have closed that disconnect a little).

-Although I had never pursued that path, the army was a career path I was heavily considering at that point, even building myself up to that point, however, Smoke was the only one between us who actually committed to that idea.

-Smoke's death and age of death is supposed to be a reference to A, how I keep getting told that if I go for (and get) my motorbike license, I'll essentially end up getting put in hospital or killed one day, and B, when I was SEVERELY depressed, I used to always say that I'd never make it to or past 30 (which means I still got about 9 years or so). Although he's a few years off, he still got close enough to make reference to that.

-Final Smoke fact (otherwise would be typing ALL day), we both almost ALWAYS wear a leather jacket, I even stuck mine under my school jumper or carried it over my shoulder when I got too hat in my final years of school. This is continued to this day (as I currently have 5 and still wear almost all of them).

.Rikoshay was my second fursona at the time, although he hasn't been used since finishing this story, he still holds a special place in my heart and MAY even appear in later stories (should I continue writing).

.As mentioned, the characters Emerald and Nikita are characters I had made for a pair of REALLY good non-furry friends I still have to this day.

.Tiana the Tasmanian tiger is another character I had created on my own at the time, she also hasn't seen any use since.

.The idea behind James the bully, his basic idea was that he's meant to be one of those kinds of bullies that simply pick on those that don't fight back (you know, like what adults used to always say) so that's why he basically backs off after Smoke confronts him.

.Speaking of James, I had more in mind for the story, including a small story based around Smoke in the army before coming back. One of the biggest points I had regarding that is having James essentially save Smoke on an operation in the desert however sacrificing himself in the process, however, due to motivation running low and life events, that story as well as the sequel story have since essentially been cancelled at this point.

Although there's more I can add, like the many clichés I had to follow to write the whole thing, the fact that originally, Smoke was supposed to be something of a narrator  or that the ending was supposed to be Smoke dying of old age (despite that narration misleading to otherwise), I'll leave this at where it is now. Now, the reason I'm writing this, despite the story being officially finished for a good few years or so now, honest truth, I'll more then likely be returning with a new story (I'm actually in the process of writing right now, it's just coming along a little slowly). I hope that these little pieces of trivial are at least a little interesting. I know I shoulda put more effort into writing the new story, but I did a little bit of writing already today (and I'm doing this while at work so I'm REALLY multi-tasking).

As I always used to say

see ya in the next chapter.
