Smoke
I stand outside my math class, searching through my music before class opens. I keep searching till I notice someone standing right in front of me, I stop on a song called Bully by Shinedown before looking up, it was Cloudy. She looks at my MP3 then looked back up at me as I remove my earbuds
"shinedown, huh? You really don't go for the local radio stations, do you?" Cloudy asks with a warm smile. I let out a small sigh
"local radio doesn't interest me, nothing but relationships, pop music and sex, all sounds like shit to me" I respond, causing Cloudy to laugh a little
"well, I understand most stations here aren't playing most of the good stuff from home" she says "have you heard of a band called Rise Against?" she asks, my ears perk a little
"name's come up a few times, hold on" I say as I start to search through my music
"why do you have something that old?" Cloudy asks as I keep clicking the skip button, she clearly means my MP3 Player
"it's not my choice to use this, 'use what you got' is something I learned" I reply as I stop at a song.
"Here, this them?" I ask as I hand her the earbuds and wait for her to put them in. I play a song called Survivor's Guilt, Cloudy nods
"yep, this is exactly them" she says with a smile as she removes the small earbuds.
I come close to smiling before someone walks up behind Cloudy
"hey, new girl, stop pretending and ditch this emo already" a deep, male voice sounds, causing us look up on a natural black and brown Rottweiler. Cloudy just crosses her arms and looks at him with annoyance
"piss off, I'm not pretending" she says before the Rottweiler leans over to her
"c'mon, it's ok, he has no feelings, he can handle the truth" he says giving off an sinister looking grin, all the while, burning me up inside.
I clench my fist until cloudy finally snaps
"ok, first off, you don't know a thing about me, and second, why would i lie about being friends with Smoke? if anything, he's got more heart and interest then you!" she yells as she stands up for me. I stand a little surprised, by this point, I'm ... actually a little scared of Cloudy. The Rottweiler starts to growl
"whatever, you little bitch, stick around with your little emo boyfriend then" he says as he backs away, Cloudy turns her attention back to me before calming down
"sorry, I just hate people like that" she says, hiding her anger with a warm smile.
We both stand and wait until the door finally open, allowing everyone to enter the class. I trip as I walk through the door, I hold out my arms and stopped myself from colliding with the purple carpet floor. I look back to see the Rottweiler holding his foot in front of the doorway and chuckling evilly
"have a nice trip, emo?" he asks with sarcasm emitting from his voice.
Mrs Parkins notices before walking over
"what's going on?" she asks me before we both look back to the Rottweiler
"Dylan, why aren't you in your seat?" she asks
"just holding the door open for Smokey here, miss" he replies with a fake smile that he struggles to hold. I push myself up off the ground before looking back to him
"don't call me that" I say as I turn and walk to my usual desk. Moments after I sit down and prepare for class, Cloudy comes over and sits next to me. I look to her as she looks to me
"what? You're my friend, I'm not going to let you sit by yourself" she says, I shift my gaze to look out the window next to me, however, to my surprise, I actually give a small smile, replacing my usual frown. Cloudy suddenly gasps, I look to see her holding her paws over her mouth with shock, I give her a confused look.
"What?" I ask the white vixen, she just puts her paws down
"you actually smiled?" she said. I just give a little chuckle
"yeah, maybe I did" I say, shifting my view forward and opening my maths book, getting ready to do my work for the lesson.
I know it took some time, but Sandra was right, things are actually getting a little better, and I think it has something to do wit this girl.
