Once Doesn't Mean Always (Straight Furry Story)

13: That Obvious?

I walk through the door to my first class with Niki and we set our seats next to each other as we set up for the day. We quietly talk while the teacher marks off the role and teaches the lesson,

"So, you and Smoke have been getting a little close" she says as she rests her head on one of her paws with playfully sinister grin. I know exactly what she means and I blush till the bright red skin shows through my fur.

Niki giggles a little and gently hits me on my arm

"I can tell" she says, making me sigh a little.

"that obvious?" I ask, Niki calms down a little before answering

"He doesn't know, does he?" she asks, my responce shows through a head shake and a slightly saddened look,

"Oh" she says, going from a playful smile to a small frown.

Moments later, the siren for the first lesson sounds and we both get up to leave the room. We make our way to the corner of the block and wait for the boys to get out of their class. The boys eventually meet us, Smoke with his hands in his pockets and Emerald alongside, talking to the grouchy (but cute) wolf.

We all walk to our next classes, Niki taps my shoulder and gets my attention before whispering "you going to tell him?" and I shrug with uncertainty, thinking on how I would tell him and how he may react before we both stop. The boys walk on ahead, knowing we would catch up

"you should tell him soon, I mean, the sooner the better, right?" she asks, I look to the boys then back at her with a nervous look

"well, I don't know if it's what he wants, he may not be interested" I say, looking to the ground with sadness.

"You're just letting him know how you feel, you're not asking him to marry you or saying that he HAS to go out with you or anything like that" she tries to reasure me, I look back up at her and see her sending a small, friendly smile

"now come on, we stand here any longer, we could be late" she says before dragging me along to class.

I think about what Niki said and wonder when would be the right time to tell Smoke that I have feelings for him. These thoughts race around in my head throughout class.
