Smoke

The bell for lunch sounds just as I finished up my work. I look to see that Cloudy was already packed up and standing in front of my desk with her bag slung over her back.

"Come on" she says with a warm smile, I quickly pack away my stuff and walk with her . As we walk, I hear Cloudy

"Smoke, can I ask you something?", I stop and turn to her

"depends on what you're asking" I respond, reverting back to my emotionless state.

"Well" she starts "why do you avoid people? What made you the way you are?" she asks, I look down to my feet for a bit "it's ok, you don't have to answer" she adds. Before I could respond in any way, she changes from being slightly sad and curious back to her happy and carefree self. How does she do that? I think to myself as we continue to walk to our lunch group.

We get to our group's table and see everyone sitting and talking until they notice us

"hey guys, same class or something?" Nathan asks, causing Cloudy to smiles as she replies with a simple

"yep" while she sits down at the bench and grabs her lunch; I sit across from her and do the same.

"Niki told us about what you said about your old home" Emerald

"she also told us about some of the other stuff you two spoke about" Tiana adds before winking at Cloudy. I look to Cloudy and I see her blushing a little.

What are they talking about? I silently ask myself before Emerald clears his throat, clearly trying to get everyone's attention

"so, where are you living now, Cloudy?" he asks, we all look at him "sorry, don't mean to sound creepy or anything" he says, sounding a little nervous. Cloudy giggles a little

"no, it's ok, my address is 12 Seaholm Drive" she answers. I get a little surprised, I actually live a couple houses down the road, number 23.

"Cool, only a couple streets away from the beach" Emerald says, before thinking a moment then adding "hey, maybe we could all go down one day" he says. Everyone agrees while I just remain quiet and eat my lunch.

For the rest of lunch, everyone just talks about their own thing until the siren sounds, making us all pack up and move on to our last class for the day. I finish my school day with Computer Aided Design, (or CAD for short), feeling a small. I walk to the computer lab alone, getting ready for a lonely lesson and preparing myself for various insults to be thrown my way as I stand outside the room.
