Once Doesn't Mean Always (Straight Furry Story)

33: Girl's Day Out

Cloudy had finally settled down a little these past few weeks, she isn't exactly the same as before but she has at least started to laugh and enjoy herself a little. Tiana and I thought that we would help her by having a girl's day out to sort of take her mind off things.

6th of August, 2016

We sit outside a small fast food store around the outside of the shopping centre, all wearing jackets to combat the winds, and ready in case of rain.

"Damn shame we couldn't go to the beach, some nice places to eat out at around there"

Tiana says as she grabs a couple chips from the box that we ordered

"well, it's not the right season, we'll go next month if you really wanna go" I say before looking to Cloudy

"wanna check out any stores?" I ask, she shakes her head a little, almost like she was snapping out of a thought

"oh, uh, wouldn't mind EB Games, I got a couple games that I wanted to look into buying" she says, giving a small smile.

I give a nod

"I wanna go to that karaoke place inside" Tiana says, causing Cloudy to giggle a little

"you really like to party, don't you? I can get us a good deal, my uncle owns the place and my cousin works there full time" she says, I give a small sigh

"good luck getting me up on stage" I say, making us all laugh a little

"that sounds exactly ... Like ..." Cloudy says, getting sadder, she didn't need to finish for us to know who she was talking about.

Tiana and I simultaneously look to each other before turning back to Cloudy. I put my paw on Cloudy's shoulder

"hey, we don't have to go if you don't want to" I comfort, she shakes her head

"no, I don't want to ruin the fun for you girls" she says, trying to pull a smile "I'll be ok, really" she adds, grabbing a couple chips. I eat the rest of them before we make our way into the shopping centre, stopping at EB Games first.

Cloudy looks over the PS4 games, while Tiana looks at XBox 360 games. Unfortunately, I only have an old PS2 so I can't really look at any thing except the little collectables, shirts and other merchandise. The pair search every shelf of their chosen console as I just look at the Steam wallet cards.

"Can I help you, miss?" A voice calls out from beside me

"no thanks" I say just as I turn, meeting eyes with a strange but handsome looking dingo.

The dingo bears lime green and white fur and a beautiful pair of cool, glittering silver eyes.

I feel a little nervous and wobbly around the canid as he keeps a warm, helpful smile

"I umm, I'm fine thanks" I say, trying to keep calm composure. The dingo gives a friendly nod

"alright, well if you need help or anything, just ask" he says before walking away.

I watch as the handsome dingo walks back behind the checkout counter, keeping my focus on him until I get startled

"who you spying?" Tiana says, jumping up from behind me, following my gaze

"nothing, I mean no one" I quickly blert out sounding extremely nervous. Tiana looks at the guy who helped before looking back with a cheeky grin

"ah, I see what's going on here" she says "you like what you saw, don't you" she asks, giving a little wink.

"No, I just, uhh" I try to make an excuse as my face warms up

"no point hiding it, Niki, your face is redder then a cherry" she adds, giggling.

Cloudy walks up to us with a game,
"ah, finally, now we can leave" I say, moving behind her and shove her towards the counter, confusing the fox as she moves closer to the bench.

"You can't hide it, Niki" Tiana says, keeping pace with us

"Umm, what is she trying to hide? I'm confused" Cloudy says as I leave her in front of the counter

"don't worry, just buy your game, I'm gonna wait outside" I quickly say before rushing out of the store. I sit on a bench outside the store and wait for the pair in silence, I see Tiana whisper something in Cloudy's ear as she buys her game.

The girls walk out of the store with sinister smiles on their faces, sitting on each side of me before breaking the silence I was enjoying

"look, Niki, if you like him, go and tell him" Tiana says, I look to her

"Tia, I can't, I just met the guy, it wouldn't be right to just ask a guy I just met out on a date" I explain, trying to be reasonable. Tiana just gets up and begins walking back to the shop

"I'm gonna go and get his number for you then" she says as she walks. I get up with a face as red as a tomato, I want to yell 'stop' but I know that it would just be wasted breath so I just sit back down and put my paws over my face, hiding my embarrassment.

I feel Cloudy pat me on the back as I hide myself. A minute passes and Tiana comes and sits down next to me, handing a small slip of paper over to me

"I believe that this is for you" she says as I remove my paws and grab the paper. I look at Tiana before looking back and examining the paper, it reads Adrian: 0435 970 606.

I take the paper with surprise
"how?" I ask, Tia gives a cheeky smile "my exact words were 'hi, my blue wolf friend thinks that you seem like a cool guy and she was wondering if she could get your number', no need to thank me" she says winking. I look confused "and he just wrote down his number?", Tiana sort of scratches her head
"well, he sort of laughed a little first but yeah" I don't bother to question her further. We stand before starting to make our way to the karaoke place Tia mentioned earlier.

We arrive at the karaoke place that Cloudy's uncle owns, but we get greeted with a surprising sight, David kissing a guy who looked like he worked there. "No way" Cloudy says, chuckling as she covers her gaping mouth with a paw. I look in confusion as she continues to laugh

"that's my cousin" she says, losing breath from laughing, me and Tiana start to laugh soon after.

From there on, we had a good time. We spent the rest of our day doing some karaoke. Thanks to Jack, we were allowed to get free food and drinks as well as free performances, I saved Adrian's number in my phone in case I wanted to try and take things further then just acquaintances.
