I heard a bang on the door. " Mam are you okay? We heard a window breaking please open! I didn't stop crying i just stood up and went to unlock the door and went to crouch on the floor rocking myself back and forth trying to comfort myself. " He's gonna come for me" i repeated this over and over. The policeman entered saw me crouching on the floor and asked what happened, i just pointed to the brick and he went over to it. Just as he went to it and to have a look at the note. My phone rang. I didn't care to answer it instead the officer answered it and explained what had happened i heard him say " ok see you in a few" and hung up.
Policeman: sisi ngicela ungakhathazeki( please don't worry) im just going to get my gloves then take these as evidence. I'll get someone to come clean your room. I just stared into space not responding until he stood up and walked out. I continued crying still crouching on the the floor then i heard someone walk in i looked up and i saw it was Sthe, i just stood in a hurry and threw myself in his arms ngashiso esofelwe islilo( i cried).
Me: bazongbulala Sthe ( they are gonna kill me). He was here that bastard was here!!
Sthe: shhh dont cry please. He just held me. Then i broke the embrace embarrassed of my behavior and how inappropriate me and him hugging was.
Sthe: mamela Nomfundo im here now i'll protect you nothing will happen to you.

Sthe: the officer told me about the brick and the note. I nodded.
Sthe: "listen i have some news on the samples the doctor took. The DNA from the semen was matched against our database of convicted criminals and it matched a Sphiwe Mdluli". That name made my skin crawl as i just continued listening.
Sthe:"so he was found guilty of rape and attempted murder years ago but before he was given a sentence the judge handling the case disappeared including the plaintiff. The newly appointed judge on his case said there was not enough evidence so he walked. I still believe he was involved.
Me: if he can make a judge disappear what makes you think i wont just disappear he knows where i am now.
Sthe: i doubt my superiors will organise another safe house let alone more men, resources are limited so you can stay at my place i can stay at one of the barracks with a friend just until you get another safe place". I looked at him eyes wide open.
Me:"really? You would do that for me? "
Sthe: i guess i take my job too seriously but definitely will get to the bottom of this. He took out his phone made a phone call and went out. When he came back he had a shopping bag with some clothes. He told me to get dressed and take it with me and meet in in the living room. I did as told quickly then met him in the living room. After a few moments we left headed to his place i guess.
Sthe: Nomfundo please tell me something?
Me:yes?
Sthe: " what are you hiding if your story about a lady hiring people to kill you is true what is it that they are after? Are you involved in some shady stuff? I was taken aback i mean i never been suspected of any shady dealings before.
Me: " Sthe im not a criminal i dont know why people want to kill me i have absolutely nothing a criminal would want no valuable items nothing!
Sthe: calm down i wasn't trying to drill you just trying to get some answers. Im sorry.
The rest of the drive was in silence. I wasn't paying attention where we were going i had too much on my mind. We pulled up to a house it seemed too fancy to be his no offence. He held a remote the gate opened and he drove in and parked in front of the garage door. Ok i was impressed i didn't know many detectives but do they really earn so much money for them to live in such huge houses this looked like an expensive suburb. He got off the car and came to open the door for me. I got out.
Me: no offence but how do you afford such a huge house i mean every body reads about how underpaid our public servants are.
Sthe just laughed." I wasnt trying to be funny", i said.
Sthe: no its not that hey i get that a lot but ke i don't own this house it belongs to my mom."
Me: " oh what does she do?" i asked as we walked towards the front door.
Sthe: she's a matron and no she doesnt earn that much, she just married rich.
Me:" oh your dad? "
Sthe: nah some man she met wen she was a Sister in King George hospital ethekwini. They met bathandana ( fell inlove) next thing i knew they were married and we moved to Joburg.
Me: wow thats a nice love story now she is living the life hey. We smiled and entered the house. I must say it was breathtaking shame bekungathi ngyaphupha( it was like i was dreaming ). A lady in uniform approached us as we walked in i guess it was their helper.
Her: sanibonani( greetings) hawu Sthe i didnt know you were coming i would have fixed a room for you and your guest. She smiled at me.
Sthe: hi MamVee no i wont be staying over just need a quick word nomama my friend here needs a place to stay for a few days while i organise something can you call her?
MamVee: sorry mtanam but she was called by the hospital to fill in for one of the night supervisors who wasnt coming.
Sthe: oh okay its cool she wont mind. This is Nomfundo please fix my room for her. She smiled and left us. He led me to the lounge.
Me: didnt you say i would stay at your place?
Sthe: yeah but the stupid landlord at my flat gave me crap about visitors and letters and permission. So this was the next best option.
Me: oh okay, so are you sure your mom wont mind?
Sthe: yeah I'm sure she's cool uzombona nawe( you'll see her). MamVee came to us and let us know the room was ready and asked if we needed anything to eat. I wasn't feeling hungry i just asked to go sleep. I followed mamVee down the passage to a room i guess it was Sthe's. She led me in and left. Once i was inside, i took it all in how big it was how neat it was and everything was where its supposed to be. I looked into the shopping bag i was holding to see if they also bought pyjamas, they were there. I took off my clothes i was naked and about to put on the pyjamas when Sthe came walking in. I shrieked " Sthe!!! " i covered my private parts.
Sthe: shit!! Im sorry erm the door... I was...
Me: phuma bo!!! ( get out). He quickly went out and closed the door. You cant be too careful incase atheleke futh. I quickly got into my pjs then under the covers then i heard a knock. " are you decent? " It was Sthe. "Yes im coming" i replied. I went over to unlock the door.
Sthe: i just came to say goodnight im leaving now. If you need anything just let mamVee know. We avoided eye contact i said okay then he left.

Sthe walked out of the bedroom and went to the lounge. He pulled out his phone he checked the caller ID it was mom
Him: sure,??
Mom: Hi baby so is our guest there already?
Him: yeah she is.
Mom: thats my boy mommy will reward you greatly. We must keep our friends close and our enemies closer.
Sthe: yeah just dont do anything to her just yet mah i told you akazi lutho(she knows nothing ).
Mom: Good and as long as it stays that way then i might keep her around longer.
Sthe: just make sure leyanja( that dog) keeps his distance. Shes mine now!
Mom: okay I'll make sure she feels at home or and before you leave check up on your dad make sure he had his medication. " okay" he hung up.
Nomfundo
I settled in bed but for some reason i couldn't fall asleep. Part of me was afraid to sleep because of the dreams of me being seen and getting shot. After some time i dosed off.
I was in bed and i heard a sound calling out. It was a man calling out for his child this man was crying so much i couldn't help but get up to go help him. I walked out of my room following the sound of his voice. Until i stood in front of a locked door, i tried to unlock it but i couldn't. I called out " is there anyone there? Are you hurt ?" The voice went silent. I just heard the sound of heels coming my way obviously it was a woman approaching but i just couldn't see her face it was just legs and qhwa qhwa qhwa as she walked towards me."baby girl, you have no business opening that door unless you wish to die" the voice said.
Me: no erm mam a man was crying out so i thought i should see what was wrong with him. "Forget that!! You have no business knowing that!! ghosts like yourself should remain buried! " she shouted and i saw a shiny thing pointed at me i realised its a gun.
Me: no no please I'm sorry I'll leave. Just when i said that Sthe appeared out of nowhere.
Me: " Sthe!!! Ngisize(help me). He just stood there looking down with hands in his pocket. "she's going to kill me!!! ". He just walked away the lady laughed so loudly and pulled the trigger!!! I woke up. Kodwa lamaphupho jeso( these dreams oh lord) what do they mean. I just decided to pray. I was never a religious person but right then i knew that this was much bigger than me i needed help from a higher power. I got on my knees not knowing where to begin or how to begin. I just said, " O Lord look into my heart it is faithful and pure please help me somandla do not let my enemies get a hold of me. Im lost and afraid nothing makes sense please dear father shine a light on me i need you now more than ever Amen. After i was done i was just feeling peaceful i got back in bed and slept.
