I got to "our spot" as Menzi mentioned earlier. I paid the cab driver and went inside the restaurant. He was already there sitting patiently at the table we sat at the first time we came to meet. I went to him. He got up we hugged. I was gentle this time i didnt squeeze the life out of him. We broke the hug and sat down.
Menzi: im glad you came. He smiled.
Me: im glad i came too. So whats for breakfast?
Menzi: i will leave that up to the lady to decide. We ordered English breakfast the waiter took our order and left to go get our drinks in the meantime.
Me: so whats the plan?
Menzi: okay so first things first ksasa( tomorrow ) we have an appointment with a hypnotherapist at 10 am. Its time we unlock your memory. I hope it works.
Me: oh ok yeah i hope so too. You mentioned something about house plans.
Menzi: oh yeah that you see the thing is i want you to search that house. For any documents that can reveal the whereabouts of Sthe's stepfather. I did some snooping and found that the husband is still alive since theres no record of him being dead but he seems to have just disappeared.
Me: thats strange, and no one asked the wife where he is?
Menzi: the story she tells people is that he is in England getting medical help so he's staying in some home while he recovers. Thing is i dont buy it. I want to expose all the witches's secrets and then watch her crash and burn.
Me: this is all so overwhelming, so how do you think im connected to all this why would she want me dead?
Menzi: we will find out. Listen i will give you a ring this ring has a sensor whenever you are in danger you should just rub it. It will send a signal of distress to me including your location and if anything has happened to me the signal will be sent straight to the SAPS.
Me: wow you have thought of everything ne?
Menzi: i have to Ndoh both our lives are at stake. The breakfast eventually came. It was so appetizing i ate like a pig let me tell i didn't realise how hungry i was.
Menzi: woah someone is super hungry. I felt embarrassed.
Me: im sorry i ddnt mean to eat like a pig. I said looking away shyly. He just laughed. Ai ke this man it wasnt funny.
Menzi: dont worry i enjoyed watching my little piggy eat. He was dying of laughter mcm just ruined my appetite. He saw that i was now annoyed.
Menzi: ok ok im sorry my sweet please lets eat promise i wont stare. He wanted to feed me, i opened my mouth and ate that food.
Menzi: thats a good girl. So any plans for the rest of the day?
Me: well i was going to go check on Sthe, yazi his mom was acting strange earlier asking where I'd be because she had to go somewhere i mean what does that have to do with me.
Menzi: maybe this was our chance. Lets go over the house plans i need you to know this house like the back of your hand. I agreed. I told him the rooms i knew which were the lounge, Sthe's room and the kitchen.
Menzi: so upstairs is Mrs Khumalo's bedroom and another bedroom then a study area. Downstairs is the lounge,kitchen,eating area, Sthe's room then down the passage there's a staircase going down to a basement
Me: oh thats just the entertainment room.
Menzi: how do you know?
Me: Thandi told me, when i thought i heard a sound but it was just the sound system she was checking.
Menzi: oh okay. We finished all that we came for. He handed me the new phone. I put my sim card in and switched it on. He also gave me the ring it was beautiful, looked expensive he put it on my right ring finger.
Menzi: hopefully i will be the man to put a ring on the left. He kissed my hand. I didnt know how to respond i felt all warm inside, i guess thats how those ladies with engagement rings feel even though mine wasnt on the left and wasnt an engagement. I just smiled. My phone rang. It was mother in law.
Me: mah konke kusahamba kahle( is everything going okay)
MamThandi: wentombazane ukuphi( hey girly where are you) and why was your phone off?
Me: my phone was off? I acted surprised. " it must have been network but im at a coffee shop in Melrose just clearing my mind thinking of my love.
Her: oh okay well come back soon so you can go see Sthe soon ill be leaving as well but I'll join you a bit later.
Me: ok mah see you later. We hung up.
Menzi: so??
Me: mother in law things, she wants me to come back so i can go visit her son she will join me later.
Menzi: oh okay lets go I'll get a cab for you. We stood up as the waiter was passing by with a tray of food, the smell just hit me like a brick wall i felt like i could vomit. I just held my nose and mouth, then took a deep breath.
Menzi: Ndoh are you okay? Why you covering your nose like that?
Me: nothing i guess im too full. Lets go. Hey can we drop by my place im out of cash and i need more clothes.
Menzi: i dont think thats a good idea Sthe had men guarding that house 24/7 incase you ran back there so i cant be seen with you anywhere near there.
Me: in the meantime i must walk around broke and naked. He laughed. " i wasnt trying to be funny yazi".
Menzi: i know sthandwa its just so cute when you mad. Listen I'll give you cash you need then tomorrow after our appointment with the hypnotherapist I'll take you shopping how's that. The excitement inside of me my insides were jumping for joy where have these men been all my life while i dated frogs who couldnt even be bothered buying me streetwise two nje just for lunch idiots only bought stuff if was going for a sleep over. I tried to contain myself yoh i dont want Menzi seeing me acting ratchet.
Me: oh ok thats cool. We went to a nearby atm. He went to withdraw.
I waited at a distance. He came to me and handed me the money.
Menzi: love i mean Ndoh my daily limit is only R5000 i dont spend much thats all i could get hope you dont mind. Is this guy for real?? I have never been handed R5000 heck that was my monthly salary after deductions. Heee i was doing the kwasa kwasa dance on the inside ntanga!
Me: dont worry its okay hey ill manage. He called a cab we waited around chatting about general stuff until it arrived. We hugged goodbye then i got in and left for the house. I got there. Got out went to the house Menzi had already paid the driver before he took me. MamThandi was in lounge as though she was waiting for me.
MamThandi: hey baby girl you are back.
Me: yes ma was there something you wanted.
Her: oh no my baby just wanted us to have some lunch Vee is complaining that we dont eat her food. Shes too sensitive if you ask me.
Me: oh but im still full from the breakfast i had.
Her : dont worry just tell her that but take at least a few spoonfuls and compliment her. I'll do the same.
Me: ohkay. This was weird since when did she care if i ate or not. At least mamVee prepared the food not this witch, i said to myself.
MamThandi: Vee? She shouted, " you can bring us our lunch".
MamVee: yes mam.
MamThandi: so what's with the ring, she asked pointing at my right hand.
Me: oh this? while i was out i was window shopping for an engagement ring my Sthe would have chosen for me so i guess this one caught my eye. Lucky for me it didnt cost much.
MamThandi: really? It looks expensive to me.
Me: you know me mah im cheap i guess they make these cheap things look so real so people like me dont feel left out. I wish i had a millionare dad somewhere i wouldnt be so cheap. As soon as i said that she started coughing violently. MamVee had brought the food and some juice. She sipped on it.
Me: are you okay mah?
Her: oh yes my dear im fine come lets eat. We took our plates and like she said i should do i did, i only took a few spoonfuls and sipped some juice. The food was tasty shem so i ate some more so i wouldnt disappoint mamVee too much. Then i put the plate down. MamThandi was happily eating away. Then she called mamVee asked her to take our plates and rush to the mall for her real quick to fetch her uniform from the dry cleaners. She agreed and after putting the plates away she left. I was still sitting with mamThandi in the lounge but now i felt funny my stomach began to cramp i was feeling so hot and thirsty. I wanted to get up but my knees felt weak. The pain was now unbearable. "awwwu!!" i screamed out.
MamThandi: sweety whats wrong? She came over to me i was now on the floor rolling in pain.
Me: please mah help me I'm in pain please i dont want to die. I was crying in agony.
MamThandi: nc nc nc baby girl ghosts cant die, they are already dead. After she said that everything went black.
