Menzi
I woke up with a massive headache I was in bed and my arm also when I moved it around I looked down and noticed it was in a arm sling. I looked around the room and noticed I'm in a hospital room. What the heck! Then I remembered uZamo Shit! I tried to get up quick I guess I was too quick because next thing I knew it I was on the floor my head was spinning and I fell I didn't even have the strength to get back up until a nurse who I assume was doing a routine check found me on the floor.
Nurse: oh no Mr Ngema what happened?? She called for assistance and this tough looking male nurse came in and they both helped me in bed.
Me: thanks and you my man you do know they hired you for your body right? He laughed shyly and excused himself. Sgaqagaqa onamahloni ( tough guy who's shy) ya ne. Anyway the nurse checked me I guess she had to since I had fallen.
This nurse was old but had a very warm face kind of reminded me of my mom she looked strict.
Nurse: Mr Ngema ndithetha nawe(im talking to you) I wasn't even aware.
Me: oh sorry you were saying?
Nurse: what happened why were you lying on the ground when I came in?
Me: eish nurse I fell for you. I smiled, she didn't. Yoh.
Nurse : sugeza apha mtanandini( don't be naughty young man), her scold reminded me so much of my own mother she was my one and only love and even though I teased and gave her grief most times she was always in my corner.
Me: sorry nurse it's just that I have to leave this place something needs my attention quickly. Please you have to let the doctor know I'm fit to go home.
Nurse : fit to go and in the meantime you falling about? She looked at me, I just sulked lo mama got me la ngimncane khona. She said she would call the doctor to explain to me the extent of my injuries and check me. She left. I sat there waiting if only I could call someone either Nelly or Mr Khumalo and tell them uZamo was kidnapped. I wonder who would take her and why I mean if they had a score to settle with me why not just kill me then and there why torture me by taking my family. I was still wrecking my brain when some white guy came in smiling I swear white people must have a smile switch they have on most times. He came closer I wasn't about to smile at another man ngiyindoda phela nam( when I'm also a man). He greeted and introduced himself as a Dr Schultz.
Dr Schultz: so Mr Ngema you are awake, this is a good sign but I heard you fell what happened?
Me: You see doctor I think I got up to quick but I'm fine now.
Dr Schultz: I'll be the judge of that, now do you remember the events that brought you here? I thought for a second if I told them the full story it would jeopardise my chances of finding Zamo because then police will be hounding me and if I say I don't remember they will think there's a screw missing shit!
Me: I think I was a hijacking it happened so fast next thing I was out like a light.
Dr Schultz: hmm... I see well you head severe trauma to your head it look like someone used blunt force from behind and most people can easily get brain damage or even die and until today I didn't think you would come back to us this normal.
Me: excuse me but doc who brought me here and how long have I been here has anyone come to see me?
Dr Schultz: I'll let the nurse answer your questions in the meantime I've written down some painkillers for to get right now and a form for doing X-rays after you are done I'll come check if your bodily functions are all in working order. He smiled again and went out.
Nurse: Mr Ngema you were brought in by a Mr Lindelani Ngcobo who said he found you on the side of the road bleeding badly. You have been in a coma for 2 weeks now... When she said that I felt my heart go into a panic, I started to ask myself all sorts of questions so now it was imperative that I get out of here .
Me: sorry mama,i mean nurse please can I borrow your phone I want to call my sister she must be worried sick. She smiled and said she'll be back shortly. She came back and handed me her phone.
Nurse: undincende ungagqibi iairtime yam( please don't finish my airtime)
Me: khululeka mama ngizokthengela eye 120, I chuckled. She smiled.
Nurse: suka... She turned around and went out. I dialled Nelly's number it rang for a long while until she eventually picked up.
Me: hai Nelly umuntu angafa elinde ubambe iphone( a person can die waiting for you to answer your phone)
Nelly: no ways bhuti is That really you?? Please tell me it's you, where are you guys where is SisNomzamo yazi ndiphethwe zi ulcer ngenxa yestress( I even developed ulcers because of stress)yoh I'm with Bab' Khumalo here poor man had a mild heart attack when your car was found abandoned in the middle of nowhere.
Niyamazi ke uNelly ngokukhuluma safuth ( you know Nelly and how she talks none stop) I could barely get a word in so I just listened as she went on until she thought I was no longer there.
Nelly: haibo bhuti? Are you still there...
Me: I'm here listen Nelly how is bab' khumalo doing has he tried to find Nomzamo?
Nelly : he hired some investigator guys but every trail led to a dead end even you car was found close to Heidelberg abandoned, he doing OK now I moved in with him.
Me : wenze kahle ( you did good)listen I'm in hospital I been out of it for two weeks before I got hurt these people drove off with Zamo in my car.
Nelly : which people and where did they take usisi oh gosh why do bad things happen to good people which hospital are you in?
Me: angaz please call this number back it belongs to one if the nurses elinye nje ishobolo like our mom used to be. She laughed." oh and buy her an airtime voucher kudala ukhuluma kakhulu( you been talking too much)
Nelly: done. We hung up and the nurse came back I told her my sister would call her back to get directions to the hospital and I didn't forget to mention the airtime, she smiled and said thank you, I thanked her aswell. A gentleman came with a wheelchair I assume he came to take me for the X-ray . He assisted me onto it and wheeled me off and at that moment I was thinking about my Zamo and our child. I had to find them and I will so help me God.Nomzamo
.
" Mrs Madlala you need to let me do my job if you want to have a healthy baby these sedatives are harmful if used long term on a pregnant woman"
Zinzi : she doesn't want to calm down all these anxiety attacks will make her lose my baby. That's why I want a c-section this week I researched it can be done.
As soon as I heard Zinzi say that I swallowed hard. Didn't even know where I was or long they were going to keep me. These sedatives were one thing I started to look forward to, they were the only thing that took the pain away. The thought of never seeing Menzi again and my dad and Nelly worst of all these psychos wanted to take my baby as well. I looked at my bracelet and started to cry. Menzi please come back to me like you did before I refuse to believe you are dead I don't know how or why but I still feel you are around. I just had to pray because all this was beyond me. I needed a sign any sign that I would make it out of this. I was still crying my eyes out when Zinzi walked in with a gentleman he was well dressed and looked friendly for some reason he kept stealing glances at me.
Zinzi : so who did you say your name was again?
Guy: Lindelani Ngcobo Mam.
Zinzi: and you are sure you can organise a top of the range incubator equipped with oxygen.
Guy: yes mam I'm sure.
Zinzi : I need it in two days my surrogate here is scheduled for a c-section I need everything to be perfect.
Guy: don't worry Mam you will get exactly what you deserve. Zinzi walked out and the guy followed behind before he was out he looked at me and smiled as if he knew something I didn't then went out. I'm tired of these people I just wanted that sedative manje.
