" what the hell who turned on the freaking air condition" Zoe said ranting to herself. Before she continued to inject Nomzamo's IV the hairs on the back of her neck stood she felt something tap her on the shoulder , she got such a fright she turned around and hid the injection behind her she saw the lady sitting on the bed busy brushing Nomzamo's hand, ahe was smiling looking down at her. Zoe just stood there freezing her butt off.
Lady: isn't she beautiful? She smiled again and looked at Zoe, " dont you think? " Zoe didnt answer she stepped back a bit the ladys eyes frightened her the had no white part just black. This was freaking her out.
Zoe: w-who are you??
Lady: oh sorry i didnt introduce myself the name is Rose, and you must be Zoe, she stood up from the bed but her feet barely touched the ground Zoe's eyes were wide open she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Rose came closer to her.
Zoe: what do you want from me??
Rose: yazi you should have kept your witchraft to yourself and Menzi now you had to include my Flower and i just cant let you do that.
Zoe: your flower? Leave me alone you evil spirit fire! Fire! In the name of Jesus leave me alone!! Rose laughed out so loudly at that.
Rose: nc nc nc poor Zoe the only evil thing around here is you and you dare call Jesus's name after all the evil things you been doing. Its time you paid.
Zoe: please please i beg you I'll leave just dont come any closer.
Rose continued to come closer to her until she was against the wall.
Rose: baningi bebezama ukuqeda ngo Nomzamo( many have tried to finish Nomzamo) where are they now? My dear Zoe no one hurts my flower and gets away with it! They dont even come close! She screamed her ear shuttering scream Zoe dropped to the floor and covered her ears she dropped the injection. Rose picked it up and looked at Zoe.
Rose: i wonder what would happen if i injected you with this? Zoe just shook her head she tried to move but she couldn't, she even tried to scream but no sound came out all she could do was watch helplessly as Rose took her arm and stuck the needle in her and smiled as Zoe's tears streamed down her face.
Rose: your biggest mistake was coming after my flower. She turned her back to her while the injection worked its way into Zoe's system. She went over to Nomzamo and held her hand once more.
Rose: sanibonani nina, she smiled rubbing Nomzamo's belly. " no one will hurt you ever my flower its a pity i cant show myself to you anymore but ill always protect you, both of you. She kissed her forehead and dissapeared just like that. Zoe was still on the floor the room temperature was normal again, sound returned to her and she could now move she felt a sharp pain on her chest she clutched her chest and shouted for help. The nurses came rushing in thinking it was Nomzamo needing help but that was not the case instead they found Zoe lying on the floor holding on the chest.
Zoe: my heart please i been... She suddenly went limp she was quiet but her eyes stared blankly. The nurses were confused but tried CPR on her but it was too late Zoe was dead! They looked into her belongings to see who they could call to inform them about the incident but they found nothing useful. So they looked through Nonzamo's file since she was her stepmom or so they thought. The called Nomzamo's dad but it was unavailable they then called Sihleq those were the only two people listed for incase of emergancies. Sihles phone rang he answered
Sihle: Madlala hello?
Sister Monde: hi Mr Madlala its sister Monde here
Sihle: sister has something happened to Nomzamo?
Sister: no sir shes doing fine however its her stepmom we have reason to suspect she went into cardiac arrest.
Sihle: stepmom? What stepmom im lost a bit.
Sister: can you please come to the hospital we have no other means of identifying her.
Sihle: oh okay im on my way. They hung up. Sihle was lost he didnt recall Nomzamo having a step mom he made his way to the hospital he was curious.
He arrived in hospital and went straight to the ward Nomzamo was in. He went straight to sister Monde.
Sihle: sister ninjani? I recieved a call from you something about Nomzamo's mom or step mom something zishaphi?
Sister Monde: sir i dont have all the answers but a lady came in heres begging to see Nomzamo saying she was her step mom and had come all the way from Cape town to see her so we left her in.
Sihle: im listening so you mentioned something about cardiac arrest? Whats that about. She looked down.
Sister : unfortunately we lost her it was too late we have reason to believe it was her heart but the doctors took some bloods to confirm the cause of death.
Sihle: where is she now?
Sister: she in that empty cubicle over there we cant do anything to her without proper identification and until a doctor officially declares here dead.
Sihle: ok let me go have a look at her. He left them and went over to the empty cubicle and found the person covered with a sheet. He opened it and studied her face who was she and why would she lie about being of any relationship to Nomzamo. He looked at her closely amd recalled seeing her briefly outside the hospital when he and Menzi got kicked out, yes she went to Menzi and he paid her no mind. He got out and went to the nurses station.
Sihle: sister i may have an idea who this person is but theres someone who could tell you more. Tell me do you have a certain Menzi's contacts. He was here earlier we had a bit of a tussle.
Sister : oh yes i remember the gentleman. We dont have his contacts.
Sihe: did you try Nomzamo's dad?
Sister: we did but we couldn't get through.
Sihle: okay ill keep trying him, hes probably on his way back.
Sister: okay.
Sihle: can i go into see her. He asked pointing at Nomzamo's room.
Sister: its not visiting hour just yet I'll give you just five minutes. He smiled.
Sihle: thanks sister. He went into Nomzamo's room she was awake she saw him and smiled.
Sihle: hey mommy.
Nomzamo: hey you, what are doing here? Missing us?
Sihle: yes i miss you guys so much. He smiled and went over and kissed her forehead.
Sihle: how are you feeling?
Nomzamo: i feel better now i was in a deep sleep the funny thing is i felt a presence.
Sihle: a presence? What do you mean?
Nomzamo: i cant explain it to you and i doubt you would understand but i sensed my Rose around me watching over me.
Sihle: your Rose? Baby you not making sense to me right now. Nomzamo laughed shame the poor guy looked lost indeed she explained all about Rose and finally he had a clear picture of her. He thought it sounded a bit far fetched but Nomzamo didnt seem like a delusional type to make things up.
Sihle: wow babe this is so amazing you are one lucky being and your story is so touching. I wish i had your guardian angel.
Nomzamo: dont worry babe she must be watching over the both of us.
Sihle: umm babe dont get upset but do you know Menzi's numbers off by head?
Nomzamo: i do why?
Sihle: no reason i just want to talk to him about something.
Nomzamo: ngyakcela Sihle dont start something with him and dont call him here please angazi what happens but when im around him i cant help the anger and disgust i feel.
Sihle: ngyakuzwa babe i just want to go over some office admin with him you know we were kicked out earlier for fighting so they need him here.
Nomzamo: oh okay. She gave him Menzi's number.
Sihle: ill have to leave now my time is up i only got 5 minutes.
Nomzamo: ubaba isn't back yet?
Sihle: no he isn't but i think the next visiting hour he'll be here.
Nomzamo: thank you for everything Sihle and being available in my hour of need.
Sihle: anything for you my babe. He kissed her once more and left.
Sihle dialled Menzi's number and spoke to him about the whole step mom situation and described the woman as a woman he saw him with at the hospital. He said he would be on his way. Sihle didnt have to wait too long when Menzi arrived.

Sihle: glad you made it theres someone here i think you might know. He led him into the ward they asked permission from the sister to go into the empty cubicle. They went in as soon as Menzi opened the sheet he instantly recognised Zoe and was taken aback at first. He couldn't fathom what she was doing in Nomzamo's room in the first place and why would she say she's Nomzamo's step mom. Sihle interrupted his trail of thoughts.
Sihle: i take you two know each other? Menzi just stared at him and didn't answer , he went out to sister Monde and told her he would take over the deceased paperwork. Sihle came behind him.
Sihle: so thats what you left Nomzamo for? Pathetic really ngifuna wazi( i want you to know) that uNomzamo is with me now and i will do everything in my power to make her forget about you ngoba you dont deserve her I'd rather die than see her with you.
Menzi: be careful what you wish for ndoda. Sihle just looked at him and left. A nurse came and handed him Zoe's belongings.
Menzi: nurse can you tell me what happened.
Nurse : all i know is that the lady said she's Nomzamo's step mom from Cape town and went in to see her next thing we know she was calling for help but it was too late and the doctors suspect a heart attack anyway they took bloods and will be able to tell you themselves of their findings.
Menzi: oh okay ngyabonga mhlengikazi. She nodded and smiled and walked off. He took a look at Zoe's belongings and was interested by a peculiar looking bottle something tols him to hold on to it and he slipped it in his pocket. " i just have to find a way to fix things with Zamo hell will freeze ocer before i allow thst fool in a suit to take her! " he said to himself. He made a call. It rang and the person answered.
Menzi: sure mfethu, i need a favour.
Person: sure nomayin sbali say the word.
Menzi: i need to take care of something Sk and you are the guy to help me lets meet at my house later tonight?
Sk: ok bra ill be there. They hung up. Menzi wasnt at all cut up about Zoe's death on the contrary he was relieved now he had to work on winning back the love of his life.
