15) Jungkook - What is going on?

The next morning came sooner than expected and Alan woke up around 6:30 am, for the first time in around a decade, feeling well-rested and ready to take on the day. He felt engulfed in a warm blanket and as he began to wake up even more he realized he wasn't alone. He turned around, thinking that Jungkook had clung to him after having another nightmare, only to be met with his co-worker Maria. Soon everything that happened last night reoccurred to him, all the numbness he felt yesterday turned to pain. He began to hyperventilate and shook Maria awake, hoping that she could calm him down.

The feeling of warmth Alan had was met by the cold air as Maria backed away momentarily forgetting that they fell asleep together, but soon returned after recalling all that had happened. She quickly snapped out of it and began hugging Alan whispering sweet nothings into his ear, lulling him back to sleep since it was so early and they didn't have to go to work today. She slowly drifted back to sleep as well once she knew that Alan was peacefully sleeping. Knowing the big events that would happen later that day.

Around 8 am the pair was woken up by Alan's phone ringing. After Alan saw it was Jungkook he took a deep breath and answered the call, hoping that his son would understand the situation and not jump to conclusions.

"Dad, what is going on? I'm so confused. Mom blew up my phone all night saying that you walked out on her. Please tell me what is happening. I don't want to lose you, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if that happened." Jungkook said in a panicked tone as soon as his dad picked up.

Alan replied, "I'm okay son, don't you worry. I know what your mother has done to you... I'm sorry I couldn't protect you all these years, but I am set on making this all right... Can you meet me at Maria's house? I'll send you the address, it might be better if we talk this over in person. You can tell Yoongi or Taehyung to come with you if you want, I trust those boys with my life."

"Okay dad, I'll be there in a few soon, I trust any decision you make, I love you," Jungkook said before he hung up and went to look for his keys, grabbing his backpack not knowing if he will be returning to Taehyung's apartment later since he knew that he probably went to the gym with his boyfriend, Hoseok. After locking up the apartment, Jungkook headed straight to Maria's house, knowing that it must be serious for his dad to be at his coworker's house and not his own.

Not wanting to be rude, Jungkook rang the doorbell as soon as he got to Maria's house despite knowing that his dad was there.

"Oh hello Jungkook, you didn't have to ring the doorbell, you could've just walked in since your dad is already here" Maria greeted at the door.

"Haha sorry" Jungkook laughed nervously. "I didn't want to be rude and interrupt a moment so I decided to ring the doorbell... Anyway, do you know why my dad called me here? He's normally at meetings on the weekends."

"Actually yes, but he should be the one to tell you everything, not me, you can follow me to the kitchen in case you forgot, I know it's been a while since you've been here last," Maria told Jungkook as she closed the door behind him, letting him take off his shoes.

As Jungkook entered the kitchen he immediately knew something big was going to happen. He began racking his brain thinking of every mistake he did within the past month, but couldn't find anything except for being a disappointment to his mother, or maybe it was that math exam he got a B- on instead of an A. After taking a seat in a chair next to his dad and accepting a glass of water from Maria, Alan broke the ice.

"Hello, son. I know it's been a while since we've been able to officially talk face to face because of my work and all but I promise you that you have never once left my life, and I love you with all my whole heart, so it's time to tell you some very important news. I have filed for divorce against your mother for all the pain that she has caused you" Alan began, "I know I'm not home often but I know of all the pain she has caused you. She has no right to do the things she has done against you. I know I didn't have your permission to do this but I have video evidence of her physically, verbally, and emotionally hurting you. Kookie, you are the last person out there who deserves to go through something like this. However, you are legally an adult, therefore in order to file complete charges and make her serve time for what she has done to you, you will have to file a report and possibly testify against her. I have already set divorce papers which if she doesn't sign the papers this morning I'm taking her to court. I have also filed for a restraining order from her for both of us, but you need to sign the papers and possibly make a statement of your own. We have all the evidence we need to do this, but I need to know, are you willing to go through all this with me. It's by no means going to be easy, but you are my son, and I want nothing but the very best for you always. Maria here has offered to let us stay here for a bit or you can go live with one of your friends, as I will be giving up our old home. I don't want you to keep living in the same place that brought you so much pain. I'll give you a week to think about what you want to do, but I know for me, the divorce is finalized. I can't stay with a monster like that." Alan finished as he looked at the clock.

"Well I've been talking long enough, it's time to go get those divorce papers from your soon-to-be ex-mother. I'm sure Maria will not mind your company until I get back, but I do suggest you consider everything, Kookie. That woman needs to get what's coming at her for treating you like that" Alan said as he walked out the door, leaving Jungkook in deep thought.
