Sitting on the couch, Namjoon stared down at the mess Jackson and Mark had spread over the floor, and the coffee table was moved just under the tv before this. They had papers everywhere. Like, every inch of the blue and white patterned area rug was covered; you couldn't see it at all. The couple was planning out their future together, and Namjoon was caught in the crossfire. He couldn't leave the couch even if he wanted to. He was trapped, sitting with his legs crisscrossed under him and an empty tea mug sitting in the open space of said position. Man, he wished he had brought his phone, headphones, and a book with him.
For now, he had to settle with watching the couple while fiddling with his hands. Making sure to stop himself from picking at his hand since he opened up a little gash in his palm while dealing with a breakdown last week. Namjoon was having a hard time not picking at the bandages wrapped around his left hand, and he needed something to do.
He zoned out without knowing and started scratching at the bandage. Jackson heard the scratching and gently placed his hand on Namjoon's wrist, effectively pulling him out of his thoughts.
"You good buddy?" Jackson chuckled softly.
"Yeah, yeah. Sorry, I kinda zoned there." Namjoon chuckled lightly in response, pulling his hands away from each other. "And, since you two have trapped me on the couch, is there any way I can help?" Namjoon tucked his hands under his thighs.
"Uhhhh," Mark looked around the papers for a second. "Yeah! Here! What four names go best together? Pick out two Girl-boy pairs." Mark grinned, handing Namjoon a clipboard with a paper full of baby names along with a blue and pink highlighter.
"Ok." Namjoon nodded and started reading the list, missing the slightly concerned looks the couple in front of him shared. Taking the highlighters, Namjoon highlighted the four names that we thought went well together.
After he was done with that, Namjoon kept reading through the names to keep his mind busy. Nari was a name that stuck out to him the most. He just instantly fell in love with the name because of what it meant. Nari meant Lily and Lily flowers were a symbol of purity. Namjoon didn't know why but he immediately thought of Jeon when he saw the name Nari on that piece of paper. Taking the pink highlighter, Namjoon wrote Nari on his right hand, in the shakiest of handwriting with his left, so he could write it down on his bookmark later.
"What's got you smiling like an idiot?" Jackson suddenly asked, jolting Namjoon from his thoughts slightly.
"Hm? Oh! Nothing." Namjoon cleared his throat and shook his head, handing the paper and the highlighters back to Mark. "Nothing to worry about." Namjoon smiled softly down at his hand again.
"Alright then." Jackson hummed and looked at his best friend a little skeptical.
'I'm so gonna name my future daughter this.' Namjoon thought to himself as he kept looking at the name on his hand.
