21) Jungkook - Is this the end?

Weeks passed and after a blowout trial, Jungkook's mother was sentenced to 6 months in jail, 1 year of probation following and the restraining order was set for the next 5 years and would be able to be renewed at any point for another 5 years without end due to Alan and Jungkook being able to provide video evidence of abuse. Jungkook's biological mother was charged for family abuse and assault against Jungkook as well as domestic abuse against Alan.

The biggest issues in Alan and Jungkook's lives are now gone, but what now? They had basically nothing now. Having given up their home for Jungkook's now ex-mom to sign the divorce paper, Alan had to spend his paycheck on new work clothes and other things so he would be able to keep his job. Being paid bi-weekly didn't help their situation either. For now, Alan took Maria's offer to stay with her while Jungkook went between Maria, Yoongi, and Taehyung's places every few days because he felt bad and too much of a burden to Maria but he eventually settled down at her place along with his father as the two weeks came to a close and Alan would be getting his first paycheck since the trial.

Maria had agreed to take things slow with Alan but as the 2 weeks came to an end and Alan got his paycheck, it meant that he and Jungkook would have enough to put a down payment down on a small apartment and would be leaving her house soon. She really didn't want that, she enjoyed having the two around constantly. It brought her dull and lonely life back to life. She wanted to push boundaries but not be too overbearing towards Alan. Maria first began cooking more quality dinners and baking treats for Jungkook and his friends. She forgot how much she enjoyed cooking for others and knew her love for it would die once again if the two boys left. Maria also began to cuddle up to Alan more when watching shows before parting to their separate bedrooms to sleep, a few times actually falling asleep together on the couch, which Jungkook walked in on in the morning and wanted to die from the cuteness.

"I really appreciate you letting Jungkook and I stay with you, Maria, but after this week's paycheck I think we will have enough to at least put a downpayment down on a small apartment so then I can pay the rest at the end of the month, I know that after that we will easily have enough. I feel like too much of a burden to you for being so generous and letting us stay for so long." Alan told Maria, even though deep inside him he wanted to stay. He didn't want to leave the person who has been there for him through so much, who he stuck by during their hardest time. Alan didn't want to leave Maria, he was slowly falling for her, but he was scared. He was scared that history would repeat itself in some way, he loved the feeling of knowing that someone cared for him and after years of having to work late to purposely avoid the person causing his son so much pain, he was able to find something that he wanted to last forever.

"Oh, alright" Maria replied to Alan, trying not to sound disappointed that they were leaving.

"Remember that you two are always welcome here, and please visit often. It gets lonely here fast with my son Seokjin gone most of the time for school or work. With that being said, let's call it a day. It's already 11:30 pm, and I don't know about you, but I'd like some sleep before that 7 am meeting tomorrow" Maria said with a yawn before hugging Alan and leaving for her room.

"Yeah, I agree, goodnight Maria" Alan replied into the hug before breaking away to head towards his temporary room.

Alan was woken up around 3 am by someone speaking, but he knew that Jungkook had spent the night at Yoongi's since the older one was helping him on a school project. Alan got up and began to wander the house checking for a possible home invasion or to see if Maria's son had gotten back from his school trip at such an odd time. After doing a clean sweep of the house, Alan realized that the voices were coming from Maria's room. After softly knocking on her door, because he's just such a gentleman, he quietly opened the door and slowly walked in realizing that she was having a terrible nightmare and talking in her sleep. Alan knew how to deal with nightmares because of Jungkook, so without thinking he crept over to her bed and climbed in next to her, pulling her into his arms and lightly kissing the top of her head. Maria subconsciously cuddled in the comfort and slowly became less tense signaling to Alan that her nightmare had subsided. After taking one last glance at the woman in his arms he decided that she looked very peaceful and slowly allowed himself to drift off to sleep.

Morning soon came and Maria was woken up by her alarm for work but as she tried to roll over and turn it off, she realized she wasn't alone in her bed. Quickly pushing whoever it was away and scrambling back she realized that it was just Alan. She then quickly checked herself to make sure her clothes were still on, which they were. She then quickly calmed down knowing that it was just Alan and didn't have too much to worry about because of that.

Alan woke up to the sound of Maria's alarm but didn't fully wake up until he was suddenly shoved and heard someone breathing heavily, he then decided to open his eyes and figure out what was going on.

"Woah woah woah, hey its okay nothing happened we didn't do anything, you just had a nightmare last night so I must've just acted on instinct and fell asleep here since that's what I always had to do to Jungkook," Alan spoke sheepishly while scratching the back of his neck.

"Oh it's okay Alan, I was just surprised since I don't remember you joining me" Maria replied. "Umm it was actually really nice" she finished softly but could still be heard by Alan.

"Well if you were that comfortable maybe I'll just have to stop by more often. I can't make you uncomfortable after all that you've done for Jungkook and me, and let alone be uncomfortable in your own home" Alan cheekily said. "Now with that being said, we should probably get up and get going for the day, we do have that meeting to get to you know."

"Hehe yeah, we probably should, now go to your room so a girl can change in privacy" Maria jokingly said as she pushed Alan out of her room, making sure to close and lock the door so she could get ready for the day.

"I could easily get used to this." Alan sighed contently as he walked to the guest bedroom with a smile on his face, feeling genuinely happy for the first time in a while.
