17) Jungkook - Confused

"Oh sweetie come here," Maria said to Jungkook, engulfing him in a warm motherly hug. "I know that it's a lot to take in right now but after what I saw on that video your dad really is trying to make life better for you. You are more than welcome to stay here as long as you would like, I love having company over, it gets very lonely here with my son gone."

Jungkook couldn't really do anything but melt and cry into the hug he so long yearned for. He had gone so long with only the small amount of affection given to him by Taehyung and Yoongi that he almost forgot what it felt like to be held. Jungkook never asked too much from Taehyung and Yoongi because he knew the both of them had boyfriends and he, himself, would be overly jealous if he knew his boyfriend was giving affection to another person. He didn't realize how much he was missing this type of affection in his life until he got it. He just sat there sobbing into Maria's shirt for around an hour before finally falling asleep, exhausted from crying.

"I can't believe all that you have gone through, you may not be my biological child, but I am more than willing to treat you like one. I have grown such a liking to your father, but I know he rejected this life before and I wouldn't be able to remain sane if he rejected it once again from me. I hope he will accept it this time around, but I will try to properly date him soon after this is all done and over with. You both are so incredibly strong and I have nothing but love and support in my heart for the both of you" Maria said to Jungkook, even though he was asleep and clearly couldn't have heard her, but subconsciously cuddled closer wanting to savor the sweet moment while it lasted. Maria didn't want to disturb the poor boy, knowing that he probably didn't get to sleep well often, and decided to turn on a movie quietly for her to watch while waiting for Alan to get back.

Alan returned about halfway into Maria's movie, quietly whispering not wanting to wake his sleeping son, and also realizing how much he missed seeing his son in such a peaceful state with the comfort that he oh so needed. Alan went on to tell Maria how somehow he was able to convince Jungkook's biological mother to sign the papers, telling her that he would not come after her for a restraining order unless Jungkook initiated it. He also said that she could keep the house as long as she signed the papers with no protest and promised that neither he nor Jungkook would come back asking for money in the future. Alan then left to get more clothes since Jungkook's mother went all psycho and destroyed all his and Jungkook's belongings, leaving them what they already had with them. Luckily they both had their phones and about a week's worth of clothing, but that wouldn't last and they would obviously need some more/new things, especially for Alan since he only managed to pack three dress shirts and one pair of dress slacks along with two ties and his work shoes. Alan also mentioned that he would stop somewhere for lunch and get takeout to bring back for dinner.

Jungkook woke up shortly after his father left, but didn't want it to be known that he was awake since he was enjoying the comfort and warmth that engulfed him. He was afraid that if it was made known of him being awake he would never experience this feeling again. Maria saw that the clock on the wall said 1 pm and decided that she should probably wake Jungkook up and make some food for the both of them. Along with telling him all that his dad told her earlier.

Maria had a small internal battle with herself on if she should call Jungkook by his full name or 'Kook' like his dad did. She decided on the latter since she wanted him to feel warmth and comfort.

"Kook, wake up. It's afternoon" Maria calmly whispered into Jungkook's ear before kissing the crown of his head and slightly shaking him only to be met by a small groan which instantly stopped as soon as Jungkook realized what he had done. Jungkook quickly sat up and scooted away from Maria, curling up into himself worried about a punishment being directed at him. Maria soon realized the situation and slowly got up, moving closer to the small boy who only tried to make himself into an even smaller ball.

"Shhh, it's okay Kook. I'm not going to hurt you, you aren't there anymore and you will never be going back okay? I've got you now," Maria said as she carefully and slowly wrapped her arms around the small boy. After a minute, Jungkook's breathing began to return to a more steady rhythm.

Deciding that she should probably change the topic and speak of what she originally woke the tired boy up for she said "Are you hungry? It's afternoon and you should probably eat, dear. I was thinking about making some instant ramen since that isn't something too heavy to digest after the long weeks you've had."

After pondering the question for a moment, Jungkook hesitantly nodded his head, proceeded to get up and follow Maria to the kitchen to watch her make their food. Jungkook also didn't want to be away from her for an extended period of time either seeing how much his dad trusted her and not wanting to make her feel like she had to do everything. Jungkook walked over to help but Maria refused to accept it, telling him to go sit at the island because he is probably still a bit tired from his nap this morning.

After the food was ready, they both ate in silence and then went back to the living room since it was more comfortable there.

"So umm your father came back while you were asleep, he left to get more clothes for the both of you since your mother, um, went a bit crazy after hearing about him wanting a divorce. She signed the papers for the divorce, however, that doesn't mean she is guaranteed to leave you alone in the future though." Maria informed Jungkook, pausing for a brief moment to look for any reaction from the boy.

"Yeah, I kinda figured that, I'm going to look for a part-time job so I can help dad with buying new stuff and I'm sure that the both of us should get new phones with different numbers..." Jungkook spoke for the first time after waking up. "Ummm I probably should get the restraining order right? I mean she still is my mother after all but I can't live with the constant harassment every day" Jungkook finished beginning to tear up again.

"I think that the restraining order is going to be one of the best things for you, now you can ensure that she won't try to do anything to you, and Kookie, I know that she is still your biological mother, but any mother shouldn't disown their child for being any different, my son is bi and I have absolutely no issue with it, I do nothing but support him. I know this might be a little early to say... but I have taken a large liking towards both you and your father, so I guess what I'm trying to say is... Jungkook, with your permission, I would love to be able to potentially be with your father and step into that motherly role that you have been missing for so long. I will show you what it means to have someone as a mother who truly loves their child, and I will do nothing but treat you as one of my own, I promise." Maria said, holding her breath, not knowing how Jungkook would react to all this.

After a moment of silence from Jungkook ingesting all the information thrown at him he finally spoke.

"Maria, I can't think of anything that would make dad happier than to have you by his side. I know that he is just so thankful to have you in his life, I've never seen him as genuinely comfortable around anyone else as he is to you or myself. Especially after his ex-wife disowned me, he kinda lost a piece of himself "Jungkook paused for a second before continuing with, "but I don't want things to seem too forced or too soon, try to take things slow because I think both he and I are going to need some time to reflect on all that has happened before making any major commitments to anything new."

"I can completely agree with that Kookie, and I am very thankful to have met the both of you. I just feel a sense of warmth and love that I haven't felt in a while since my son doesn't live here anymore and my ex-husband cheated on me. You have my word though. My door is always open to both you and your father, and I truly do hope that you accept that offer and stay, it's lovely having the both of you around since it gets lonely here" Maria said before getting up to get the remote and start a movie.

Jungkook just left it at that, he was too tired to think anymore since he knew his decision on how his future would potentially go. So he curled up on the couch and tried to pay attention to the movie Maria had put on to pass the time until Alan returned. Jungkook ended up falling asleep, only to be awoken a few hours later by the front door being closed and the rustle of bags being placed on the kitchen table.
