Debbie's eyes roamed the backyard of Lou's home. Her heart started to waltz as the starry skies twinkled above and she, too, was standing underneath a blanket of lights - golden and so bright. Underneath her feet was a red carpet and the whole place was filled with white rose petals. The gentle glow of the night was beyond beautiful and the honeydew air felt magical. The wrecked-bones stabbing her own heart no longer felt like suffocation. And as she stood there, bewildered and almost enchanted, she knew she would be damned again.
"Debbie..."
The brunette wanted to die when out of the sudden, Lou was there in front of her again. Could the blonde hear the wild thumpings of her heart? She hoped not.
Maybe it's the way you say my name
Maybe it's the way you play your game
But it's so good, I've never known anybody like you
But it's so good, I've never dreamed of nobody like you
She wanted to question her. But how could she when Lou was dressed in a black three-piece suit? How could she open her lips when the blonde was smiling sweetly at her? As far as she could remember, the afternoon didn't end well. But as she welcomed the night, she wasn't skeptical anymore; the night would kiss them lovingly, she knew.
"I haven't." Lou declared and Debbie froze once more, "I haven't moved on, Debs. Have you?"
Debbie bit her tongue as another batch of tears fell. But even if her feet wanted to move and turn back to the blonde, even if her heart would want to give up and her lips wanted to speak of second chances, her brain whispered that it was enough. And so, as expected, Debbie ran out of Danny's room, leaving Lou with an unanswered question.
"You look so pretty." Lou spoke again, voice velvet and rich.
And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime
And I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine
Could it be possible that your soul would leave your earthly body? Because when Lou uttered those, Debbie was sure her soul diminished into thin air. A gush of wind breezed around and this time, Debbie wasn't able to stop herself from giving her ex-wife a smile.
"You look way prettier and hot in that suit." Debbie replied.
The blonde tilted her head as she gave the brunette a smug grin, "It feels good to wear suit again."
"What's with this?" Debbie looked around, "The place looks bomb, but what is this for?" She asked, still so baffled.
But before Lou could answer, Danny's voice roared around the place. Debbie looked up and when she did, Danny was sitting on the balcony, a megaphone on her hand and a camera on the other.
"I fell asleep earlier. I wanted you two to dance and I didn't see it. Dance, moms!" The little girl spoke through the megaphone before taking photos of her moms on the yard.
